possible to skip to training part of missions at start?

but is it possible to skip to the actual training part of the mission from the start or do i need to startup, taxi, fly to the waypoint and then only can you commence the actual mission?

 

would be great to be able to skip to the actual mission immediately

If you play it as a campain: no. 

if you open the missions one by one: sure. You open whichever you like.

no i mean, during the mission there are various checkpoints

 

can u start at one of the checkpoints immediately 

 

i.e. in the dialogue menu when you load up the mission, can u select to skip to that portion of the mission?

DCS doesn’t support what you are describing. If i understand you correctly.

Let me put it this way:  every mission stage that loads as a separate file can be opened directly through the mission editor or the missions menu. E.g. Mission 2c - lag pursuit. 
 

but, if you play it as a campaign you need to do it properly, no skipping.

Go to your DCS install folder - Mods - campaigns - F-4 MIG Killers
You'll see the full list of mission files and you can open whichever portion of the event you like
