mbolan Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Having crashed after being warned 'Watch EKRAN' and failing to either understand the message there, or importantly no knowing how to respond to it, I'm wondering if anyone knows where we NewBs can find the error messages e.g. EKRAN and the various strategies for dealing with them? Of note have been ENG ELEC and HYDRO MAIN TRANS. All help appreciated :book:
JG14_Smil Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 it is all listed in the flight manual. I have found that when I lose hydro and my AP lights blink, I can switch the weapon controls system to handle navigation and I can land the helo.
Frederf Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Using the WCS computer as a backup NAV computer is a good trick to know. The OP is asking for a emergency procedures guide for all or common equipment failure indications. This is a tall order since not only do you have to derive meaning and solutions for certain indicated failures, you have to create a list of common or possible sets of indicated failures! I think you'll get a lot more answers if you keep a notepad on your desk and write down what failure indication combinations come up and then given what the situation + the failure list, we can start making up these "solutions."
bumfire Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 In the manual, the example code shows as 132, in the list of things that can be displayed on the ekran 132 is nowhere to be seen, 142 is the closest their is :|

Filament Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 One simple (and most frequent) thing I've learned is, if the red light on the left side of the front/main panel is flashing, and there are one or more circular red lights lit (indicating fore/aft/port/starboard locations) - it means that you are about to have your 'frame perforated, or have components of your 'mount' shedded/shredded in a sudden/violent manner by something that doesn't appreciate your being there. :music_whistling:
