Looks like this one with hands on center stick and throttle.

You could've asked him in PM.

It's top down helmeted dude in a cockpit.

If I may guess it comes from Robotech or similar Anime from 80s.

Japanese Mecha Anime..... who'd have thought.

Obviously not me I'd never heard of it, which is generally not an unusual situation. A quick look on YouTube shows later series modelling what can only be described as Super Super Super Super Tomcats !

Thanks for the reveal, all the best ..Tim

Macross Zero arrived almost 2 decades later. On its own it is independent from original series (not all of the seasons were of the same quality or even age target).

Still they preserved the same drawing style with more modern animation means.

I think I watched original series on Super or Sky network with no translation back then. In retrospect I think this got me interested in aviation (much more than e.g. Top Gun).

Took me years before it clicked for me 🙂 But wouldn't pin-point it passed a "helmeted character" as I never watched any mecha.

Not an anime fan so I needed a push like that to recall an over-the-top anime on F1+ racing. Absolutely exotic in Central Europe of the time (early 90's).

In the following decades I discovered that some of the animations I used to enjoy and took for granted as Western were either anime or by Japanese animation studios (Cities of Gold, Nils Holgersson, Maya The Bee...).

That said during the many years on the forums I always enjoyed discussions GG was involved in. A guaranteed good read!
