I’m currently using a Virpil alpha on a virpil base.

I should be getting an AB9 in around a month, and intend to use the Virpil alpha with it.

I’m very conscious that it’s almost certainly going to result in a new controller ID being generated by windows, with the resulting “fun” of needing the resolve bindings for 40+ aircraft.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to virtualise the interface between DCS and the joystick, such that DCS would think that the joystick is unchanged, whilst I only rebind the new setup once?

I’m guessing that joystick gremlin might be able to do this, but have never tried.

A few thoughts:

Jostick Gremlin would work but you would still need to reassign the controls to the 40+ aircraft to the vjoy device.

If the bindings are the same (axis and button numbers) you could create a batch file to rename the existing controller ID to the new one and run this in each aircraft input folder.

Best option (IMHO) is to bite the bullet and install Joystick profiler https://github.com/Holdi601/JoystickProfiler set up all your controls using this and then you can change individual controls for all aircraft in one click. You can also exchange devices using this utility. It will involve some work to set up but then you are future proofed for changing devices or which buttons do common tasks.
