Summer Texture Update - A job well done, people

I guess it depends on where one puts the ruler onto. I compare it with previous iteration, which is a welcoming improvement. To avoid getting a warning by comparing to other sims, I would put it this way: even Caucasus is subpar when it comes in comparison with Google Map (this is not a sim so I am safe, right?) so to say.

I am not saying this iteration is perfect in any sense, I am thankful the effort has been put into it (by looking at other seemed-being-abandoned-maps-I-will-not-name) and want to encourage the map makers to be better.

I hope we have an understanding here.

I dont know if we do have an undertanding. Im all for encouraging but, frankly, the gushing praise being spewed out by some (including ED in their newsletter) is completely disproprotionate to what has actually being acheived. Caucause is free. Kola isnt. Moreover Caucauses dosent represent itself with images of fidelity that just are not there. Images, by the way, that are still being punted about by OrbX.  OrbX and ED will have to do considerably more than sharpen some poor texture to less (but still) poor textures to pull this dog around. And I think its beyond the capability and care of the pair of them.

If you want to talk about paid map giving out presentation which does not match the current state of the product ("scam" or not), I would say, this is bad, and it is not the only paid map with this problem (you can check my videos on this map or others).

So this comes to the question if the praise here is proportion or not. Well I would say I like the map and happy. Am I happy altogether? As mentioned I am not exactly, and there is a roadmap they are going to build upon it "in the future". And again, "by looking at seemed-being-abandoned-maps-I-will-not-name", it is fine in my book and I do not seem to break Forum rule.

I respect people like it or not, here or on my Channel, I just present what the current map looks like and what I think. May be I understand where people come form and I do not expect they would understand in return.

I rest my case. Thank you.

P.S. Please don't take me as some other YouTubers, I am not here to promote anything and my nanosocpic channel is not large enough to gain any sponsorship or whatever. I want to present things I find interesting and share, its good, bad and ugly. Well, my wife will nag me less if I got a, say, Moza AB9 for free... (I am not asking!)

Better? Yeah, better. But I think it's not the level everyone expected. Definitely not the level of Orbx(don't know if they even have anything to do with this map except on paper).
Maybe in time it will become something good, but for now it's average in my opinion, just like Afghanistan. It's definitely not bad, it's just that for me Sinai seems more detailed and doesn't seem like a field of pixels but quite reflective of the actual landscape.

Except for the runway preview pictures not matching the early release. Everything else matching. They said from the start they would used satellite images. And anyone who had flown on South Atlantic new what that ment. Bad low level textures. And we could see it on most of the other pictures how it would be. So if you paid attention you knew what you paid for. 

Compare that to Afghanistan. That had only shown a handful of pictures, and some very very select vidoes second. With no talk of satellite technology being used. Instead talking about using the latest and best terrain technology.

So when we got the map, many thought something was actually wrong with our downloads. As many couldn't imagine this was how the newest and best map was supposed to look.
