New Haptics seat from Razer will it over take the HF8?

The new  Haptic seat cover from Razer looks nice but without the software it wont match the HF8.

It's wireless which is new meaning less wires only a power supply cord but again without good software I cannot see me giving up my HF8 for it.

@rapid Thanks for this! It's interesting, and I'd like more competition. Those vibrators looks a little different compared to other transducers, don't they? Seems it's only three though, and that won't cut it. Agree that it will also need telemetry dependent software. I assume since it's Razer you will need Synapse, and I bet you it's gonna use the same setup as their haptic headphones. Never tried those.

HF8 have been updating their Firmware and still fine tuning it but it does have support for DCS and also has 8 Transducers.

I have the HF8  and  I have tried the SimShaker software and the HF8 software and they both work.  The HFE can use Telemetry or sound.

Not sure if the Razer uses Telemetry as it looks like it is using sound only and has 6 transducers.

The only feature that I like so far is that it uses wi-fi so one less cable.

Mainly HF8 has SimHub support, you can completely free yourself from native drivers.

Seat cutout on hf8 is a plus... I have nothing bad I can say in over a year of using the HF8 with Sim Shaker for Aviators.

I embrace more products in the market, competition will produce innovation and can drive better pricing. Can't let one company to do as they please and corner the market. We see that all the time and it's not fun.

I'd also like to continue to be plugged in with everything I can, I'm not a fan of anything wireless even though people swear nowadays the latency is matched. . I just can't wrap my head around wireless being just as good as hardwired.

I am excited to see where this goes. The haptics look different than HF8 but not quite like transducers of a U-Shake6.

Yes the U-shake 6 is the Top in my books but the cost is way to much for me.....says the guy who brought an AB9!

Same here. I guess it needs power? 😉

The day we have wireless electricity though... 😄

Already exists, has for a long time, but not enough money can be bled of us all, so it's buried. Nikola Tesla figured it out more recently, possible Pyramids were used for it. DOLLA DOLLA BILLS THOUGH!!! Gotta get that money, massive wireless electricity ain't gonna fund G4's and super yachts haha

EDIT, anyways back on topic lol

Honestly, the big problem with wireless power transmission is that all electromagnetic waves are absorbed, to some degree, by the environment, including human beings. A haptic pad using beamed microwave power would be... unhealthy, to say the least, especially given that most people here are male (not that women would be partial to sitting in the path of a microwave beam, either). 🙂

A more practical solution would be a battery, but I suppose a haptic pad draws too much power for that. Sitting atop a lithium battery is also not on my list of things to do anytime soon. Maybe if it was integrated into the chair, but then, they'd be selling an entire seat.

The Seat is powered by the mains, the signal to activate the Haptics motors use the Wireless connection.
