truebrit Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 I'm making a mission where I have a follow me vehicle which I want to wait until I get just behind it then start it's journey. I don't want it to spawn in front of me, it must be visible waiting for me. Any ideas? Planes: A-10C/II - FC3 - F/A-18C - F-16c - F-5 - F-15E - F-4E Helicopters: UH-1H Huey - KA-50 Black Shark - AH-64D Maps: Sinai - Normandy 2.0 - Channel - Syria - Persian Gulf - South Atlantic Extras: Supercarrier - WWII Asset Pack PC SPECS: CPU, Intel i5 12600k | MOBO, MSI, MAG 760 TOMAHAWK | MEMORY, Corsair 64GB DDR4 | GRAPHICS CARD, RTX 4070 SUPER | PSU, 850W | Flight Stick, Logitech X-56 | Rudder Pedals, Logitech G | O/S, Windows 10, 64bit | Storage Drives, 2GB M.2 | MONITOR, ASUS TUF Gaming 2560X1440 180Hz
rob10 Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Depending what it is, you may be able to make it uncontrolled or else set it in the Advanced Waypoint Actions as HOLD with a trigger to stop that condition in that WP action for when you're as close as you want. Note that you want that trigger in the actual advanced waypoint, not as a regular trigger (or set a flag in the regular triggers and use it in the advanced waypoints STOP CONDITION). 1
Solution Weta43 Posted October 24, 2024 Solution Posted October 24, 2024 Make a trigger zone & place it on the vehicle you want to start with a radius of however far away you want to be when it starts up Set the vehicle to late start (visible before start), then In the triggers section make a trigger once, condition: unit in zone (zone = start zone, unit = you), Action: activate group, group to activate = the vehicle's group) 1 Cheers.

A moving zone is the key, as @Weta43 suggested, as a variant I can suggest using two concentric zones, so that the vehicle begins moving when you are close to it, but stops if you fall behind too much. Only three triggers are needed, the first is to stop the vehicle (by turning its AI off) This one starts the vehicle when the aircraft is close: The Flag is used to make the switched condition work. The final trigger, stops the vehicle when it gets too far: When running DCS it looks like this: Eduardo Su-25T - Follow Me Test (by Rudel_chw).miz 2 2 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
rob10 Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Ya totally forgot visible before activation option as mentioned by @Weta43. That's your simple option for a late activatable unit.
truebrit Posted October 25, 2024 Author Posted October 25, 2024 (edited) Thanks all for the help. Got it working. I did Weta43's solution for now, but will have to try Rudel's later, great tutorial Rudel, thanks.
