This is probably because of something I did wrong, but here's what happened: started up, followed ATC directions, took off, flew to waypoint 1, there was a comm about "Tell your wingman to hold here or attack together," then nothing happened after that. I hit both ships, no further comms, went back and landed and got a "draw" score of 50.

How are wingman comms or option selections meant to work in this campaign? F10 menu? Didn't see anything there.

Also, do I assume correctly that this is an "easy comm" setup where you don't actually have to switch channels?

Thanks for the campaign and thanks for grabbing BogeyDope, he has a great voice for this.

You will have to switch channels to talk with the AWACS and various flights. You need to sink both ships. From what you are telling me. I don't think they both went down. Can't make artificial coral reef while they are still afloat. 😀

Also, wingman is ordered from the usual radio menu, when there are F10 comms you will have a reminder. But F1 flight attack mission and rejoin works.

Experienced a similar issue.

Both myself and my wingman hit both ships with all our ordinance, no misses. Only 1 went down and the mission was scored as a draw.

Will try again and see if I can get them both to sink.

Just ran it again. Changed which ship I used the mavricks on and swapped the 500lb LGBs for 2k lb paveways and dropped those on the tanker. Both sunk. Easy day.

Same issue here, wingman not responding in UHF/VHF through standard DCS radio menu, also when prompted with "Tell your wingman to hold here or attack together" message, how to make the executive choice for that?

Can be explained if "easy comms" must be enabled or not?

Additionally I would recommend to re-visit triggers and treshold of them, e.g. damage control for the ships or sinking "corals" as was said.

Hope a fix, I did not expect these kind of issues in the very first mission....

Best,

Your coms with your flight should be on VHF 127.00 (the default VHF FREQ) and I believe the Dev said orders are given like normal via the vhf coms menu. You can use flight/engage/mission and rejoin or flight/hold position.

You can also just not do anything and hit the ships. First time I tried I had her engage and rejoin. She successfully employed her ordinance. 2nd attempt I sunk both targets without needing to tell her to engage and she just stayed on my wing. Everything progressed like normal.

Best,

Hi there.

No "easy comms" I don't think there are any campaigns there where easy comms are working.

The executive decision to attack together is simple. Engage mission and rejoin from the radio menu for your flight, or the hold position for your wingman so you can complete your run and then you can tell your wingman to engage.

Also, damage control is done when needed. Sinking those ships with the ordinance you cary is totally doable.

I have now attempted this mission 3 times, pressed every possible combination of flight attack commands, and have yet to see the wingman do anything except fly left echelon. I have done exactly what you said, but this mission does not seem to work.

well, First part solved using standard DCS VHF comms menu...weirdly the wingman did not ackowledged any radio order but comply hitting 1 of the ships...mixing standard DCS mechanisms with scripted ones may be confusing and risky.

Now, after sinking both ships, a radio call pinpointing some kind of surface contact 3 miles west of original target ships, and asking for VIS ID (while there were nothing after 1 hour loitering there) is breaking the mission again because no follow on orders or instructionsare given,....so that after bingo fuel I returned to base and no additional score (just 50).

Could you please let me know what is supposed to do? sorry, but I feel a little lost trying to follow mission steps properly.

PS: By the way, has anybody else issues with JHMCS not showing in F16?

It seems like you missed the sub, I'll test the mission again, maybe something got messed up after the last update. The sub pops up, disturbed by your bombs. Should be visible on your radar, ground mode or sea picks it up miles away. Also is visible if you go down on the deck. Once you get close to it be able to ID you will get the RTB.

You don't have the fancy helmet installed just yet. It will come later on.

Spoiler - RE: surface contact

Spoiler

There's a submarine that surfaces a  few miles away from the ships. I guess I got lucky because I could clearly see it on the TPOD with the white hot option when I zoomed out after having it pointed at the target ships. I was also able to pick it up visually after I saw it on the tpod. I did not have to use the ground radar SEA mode, but that should work if you can't pick it up visually. Do a low level orbit around the sub and the mission will trigger the next phase telling you to RTB. It only took a minute or so to ID the sub, orbit it, and get the mission update.

The JHMCS is not equipped to start the mission, but you can equip it using the mission planner or have the ground crew install it if you want.

Sorry I missed this. This has to be something with the right radio freq. AI as dumb as it is, does stuff, and it does it consistently in this mission. Make sure you are on the right freq on this one and that you are transmitting on the right radio when you order your wingman to do stuff. Wild1 2xF-16CM Blk 50 (Intraflight: 127.000

I've had Two fail to respond over the AO as well. I launched all my ordinance on the ships but only got 40% on one ship. It's possible my bombs weren't direct hits but I thought they were good

Played the mission 2 times and both times it worked. First time I hit the targers with all I had then order my winman to complete mission and rejoin. Second time the ships sink when I hit them with all my weapons. I dont know if it matters the way you hit the ships.

Well again, I couldn’t get wingman to respond to engage. However, I figured out most of the time she does take action, there’s just no radio confirmation. Is this how it’s supposed to be?

I also didn't sink one of the ship with both bombs, but my wingman managed to do it. The damage to ships seems to be little inconsistent, you probably need 2 jets to bring down those ships.

Most likely you are not on the right frequency or using the right radio to talk with your wingman.

No i was on the right frequency , i flew the mission again, but, so -2 did engage when ordered but i got no weapon release calls "Rifle" or "Paveway" from -2 but she did release? Also not sure this is your problem but the E3 and the Tanker both take off from under the runway ?

I am not saying that you made the same mistake but it is not enough to set the right frequency, you also have to press the correct transmit button. As per the manual, p. 256 (upd Dec. 20th 2024):

Zitat

In DCS World, when sending commands or requests to other units, either switch position must be utilized to open the Call Radio menu for the correct radio. When communicating with the ground crew, you may use the intercom system to issue requests using the Communication menu command. The corresponding keyboard commands for accessing these menus are below.

Transmit switch – VHF (call radio menu) [RCtrl + \]

Transmit switch – UHF (call radio menu) [RAlt + \]

Communication menu [\]

I wanted to scream here in the forums: the tanker doesn't work, it won't respond! my wingmen doesn't comply and doesn't answer! Not even the tower is answering! Wtf!

No, it was simply my error to only press [\]. Once I used the correct transmit switches, my wingman (wingwoman?) engaged like a proper fighter pilot (and much better than I did).
