"You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor."

Aristotle

Dear fighter pilots and friends - Welcome back to the second season of Aerial Combat Championship!

About a year ago, this tournament ran for the first time - with lots of success and amazing battles. Thanks again to all of you for attending and participating, supporting and submitting feedback throughout the season. Without you, this tournament would not exist or go for the second round.

If you see this tournament for the first time, maybe you want to check out last seasons thread

Alright, lets cut right to it shall we?

GENERAL INFORMATION

The ACC Discord-Server serves as the main source of information as well as the means for organizing each element during the tournament. Please join the server for everything important via the link below:

-> Discord Invite Link <-

Discord Server Membership is required for a valid sign-up.

Format and Structure

All the important things in short:

- PvP
- 6v6
- Best of 3
- BVR
- NoAWACS
- Qualifiers followed by a Double Elimination Format

Aerial Combat Championship (ACC) is a 6 versus 6, NoAWACS, BVR tournament focused solely on the competitive PvP aspect of DCS. Unlike other tournaments, its combat zone is rectangular (see Discord maps-setup section). A maximum of 16 teams may sign up for the tournament.

This year, due to timely constraints, the tournament will not feature a group phase. If Season 2025 takes place, we will go back to the original format - or something even better!
The 'Qualifiers' will be a randomized One-Time Match - This means we will have 8 winners and 8 loosers of said matches, setting the initial 'splits' for the following Double Elimination Phase.

Please refer to the discord within the next few days of this post being released for more details.

Sign Ups

You can only sign up via the Discord linked above.

Sign ups are open from 1st to 22nd of November, with minor extension at the ready if not all 16 Team Spots are taken.
(Note: It is possible to launch the tournament with less teams, though it is suboptimal)

If all spots have been filled, your team may sign up as a backup, in case a team needs to bail.
(Stuff like that can happen, you know how reallife can get in the way...)

Scheduling

The initial schedule will include default dates, however everyone is free to negotiate a more fitting date and time as long as such a rescheduling is within the rules of the tournament.

Qualifiers: 3 weeks to complete all 8 matches (one match per team) - yes its tight but hopefully to be completed in December. (No issue delaying if needed)

Elim. Phase: 2-3 Months "as fast as possible" - Starting in January.

Prizes

Currently, there are no prizes - you fight for fun and honor.

Film - Top Gun - The DreamCage

Honor and Glory - Dignity in Death

- Maps: Caucasus during Qualifiers; Common-Map Pool between teams, with each team receiving one token to spend on choosing a map. See the  "SPRINT RULEBOOK"  soon to be attached to this thread as well as released on the discord. The weather will also be different to last season!
Note: The Sprint Rulebook is created from the original one, but altered to fit this season and format. In short: The rules are basically the same.

- There will be 2 dedicated tournament servers.

WE'LL DO IT LIVE!
That's what I said when I started the stream - and 35 of you agreed!

We spun the wheel 16 (-1) times to determine who fights who during the qualifiers - and so here it is, the qualifier matchup list:

64th vs. NMS

343ku vs. E-TF]

BFG vs. 404

PAF vs. SF

Alamo vs. 9g

SNK vs. FTQ

501st vs. 45th

FOX vs. VAF

All squadron / livery showcase videos will be free of charge and free to use by all teams, provided you leave the ACC logo in at the end. Every team participating will get one, those that were missing today will get theirs in order of the matches above. Once again, sorry for not having all of them at the ready today 😕
All videos will be on the ACC YouTube Channel

Any questions? Send them to me! Either directly (DMs) or in the public/tournament chats.

Please refer to the Schedule-Standings channel on the discord for the dates and times the matches take place. Start scheduling and we'll see you guys up in the sky!!! (Rescheduling rules apply of course)

Thanks to everyone who hung out in the stream, the VoD will be up in a minute, while Ill also send it over to YT and upload the squadron/livery videos.

Take care, will ya?

Dear all,

The double elimination phase is nearing its end...

After a very long but exciting season, we finally near the Grand Finale.

I'd like to thank all participating squadrons for their continued support during this tournament, giving it their all in an attempt to get to the finale...

So this is it...
The grand finalists of the Aerial Combat Championship Season 2024 have been decided!

After an exciting match between 45th and BFG, the Horsemen came out on top with a 2:1 win. BFG fought back in Round 2, hoping to be the ones that claim the spot next to 343ku in the finale, however the reigning champions had the final say in that.

And so we move on to the Grand Finale, this Saturday on May 31st (start time to be announced). With that I may also present to you my map pick for the Grand Finale to take place on. I've been thinking very hard which one to take before the season began, but finally decided upon the map of Caucasus, Sukhumi-Maykop (better known as "Syria Replacement"). See an image of the setup here:

2023-11-17_00_43_00-Digital_Combat_Simulator.png
With its mix of flat terrain and foothills, it presents a unique challenge for the combatants to try and find some cover from incoming missiles. I am very much looking forward to seeing this map getting some more action.

The match will be streamed of course, with the host panel yet to be decided upon.
An end-of-season survey will be released with the conclusion of the match.

Be sure to tune in when its "Fight's on!" for a final time this season... will the 45th beat the honorary 343ku in the WB Final rematch and protect their title, or will a new champion emerge from the ashes of last season's legacy?

Honor and Glory, fight's on!
