  1. THE DAY HAS COME!!! Tonight, at exactly 1800zulu, the 45th JFG Horsemen and Eclipse Task Force will take on each other to become the AERIAL COMBAT CHAMPIONS of the 2023 season! Both have been fighting all the way up the ladder, meaning theres only one last fight to determine who is the best of the best of ACC. Since this is the finale, I've been trying to gather some of the BEST streamers of the DCS Competitive Space to host the finale stream - with RL always being a factor, not everyone was able to make it, sadly. But "not everyone" has to mean someone, right? That's why I will be hosting the finale together with my good friend Monarch and the legendary NoWheels himself! We will also see the premiere of a community submitted Finale Trailer during the stream, so stay hyped for that and a big thanks to the 343ku and especially starry_fox_nine for going out of their way to make a cinematic on their own behalf! We will launch the stream at around 1745zulu, so be sure to tune in over at my Twitch Channel! (Link) This is gonna be epic! Until later, ~Ash out
  2. THE FINALISTS HAVE BEEN DETERMINED!!! 45th JFG Horsemen (45th) will take on Eclipse Task Force (E-TF) to become the 2023 AERIAL COMBAT CHAMPIONS Team Wadafak (WF) and One Trick Pony (oTp) will compete for 3rd place. 3. Hey all, First: Thanks to Wags for taking his time to make the Q&A Video Series. (even though many questions in the video have already answered by the game being updated, not a bad thing dont get me wrong) What I would like to know though, would be how big the dev team is that currently works on implementing the Multithreading Tech into DCS? Also curious to know if the devs are also working on other elements in parallel, having to split their time. Thanks.
  4. There we have it! With ETF coming out on top vs. TORO last week and Snake having to forfeit their Quarter-Finals Match due to unforeseen pilot shortages, we are now down to 4 Teams remaining in the race to become the 2023 Aerial Combat Champions!! Congrats to 45th, WF, E-TF and oTp for making it so far! I hope to welcome Mumblerines, FTQ, TORO and Snake next time around again. The next match will take place on March 31st at 17z! Make sure you tune in. -> Discord Invite Link <- Ash out
  5. AERIAL COMBAT CHAMPIONSHIP IS MOVING INTO THE ELIMINATION PHASE!!! 16 Teams have fought for their places amongst the two, eight team large Divisions, which (initially) were meant to both play their own Elimination Phase. With the amount of dropouts during the tournament, only 8 of the 10 remaining teams will proceed to fight to become the 2023 AERIAL COMBAT CHAMPIONS I wish all combatants good luck and fair skies, may the strongest prove themselves. The proceeding teams are (in order of ranking): M, E-TF, FTQ, oTp, 45th, TORO, WF and Snake. Good luck to all! Asphelite.
  6. Even though I can imagine this already been requested: Mass Select Ability like on Windows File Explorer (Click & Hold + Drop)
  7. Reading through all of this I do have to say: Incredible research work! Nice job Prez, I hope the team at ED will honor it in some way.
  8. All entries for this season have been distributed! Following the successful sign-up of 16 teams, the sign-ups have been locked. You may sign up as a backup team, however it is not guaranteed that you will be pulled to replace a team that happens to be pulling out during the tournament. The Mercenary Sign Ups remain open throughout the tournament season. With the groups, schedule as well as the scrim missions being released via the Discord during the course this week, I am proud to announce that the season will kick off on the 1st of December. Thank you all - see you in the skies. Fight's On! Join the Discord Server ->Discord Link<- Do not reply to this thread.
  9. The sign ups for Aerial Combat Championship 2023 have been extended! You can sign up by joining the Discord and posting your teams info until Friday the 17th of November 1800zulu. At this point in time, there are 2 more entries available. Thank you! ->Discord Link<-
  10. I know about that part of their roadmap, I just expressed my wish for a supercarrier version - and last time I checked that module was made by ED
  11. The sign ups for Aerial Combat Championship 2023 have been opened! You can sign up by joining the Discord and posting your teams info according to the provided schema into the signups channel. Thank you! ->Discord Link<-
  12. [I couldnt find anyone bringing this up in this forum, excuse me if it has already been requested in some other form] With the addition of the incredible F-4 Phantom to DCS, Id love to see the Supercarrier Module receive a Kitty Hawk or Forrestal Class Unit. Given how much Cold War era planes we are getting, with many of these planes having fought in the Vietnam war, I think it would be very cool to have a Vietnam Era Carrier (in addition to the USS Forrestal). Examples: USS Independence, USS Constellation, ... Only thing missing then would be a Vietnam Map
  13. !-> Please join the Discord to Sign Up. <-! The sign ups will run for pretty much exactly 2 weeks, opening at 1200zulu and closing at 1800zulu. The schedule will be released shortly after that, aiming to begin the tournament late November and running up to April. These are approximations and are subject to change. I'm very much looking forward to every single one of you. Fight's on! w/ regards, Asphelite Do not reply to this thread.
  14. Hello everyone, moving closer to the start of ACC'23, I wish to announce minor changes to some technicalities of the ruleset. Please see the changelog further down below. The newest version of the rulebook is Version 6. Thank you all. See you very soon Changelog: - explanation for gathering of stats has been refined to match implementation - Zone size increased, innerzone was: 90x60nm - now: 90x70nm (+10nm in depth) - cases of being considered dead have been clarified a tad (Section "Zoneworks and capturing the Zone") - Timer/Countdown/Time until you have to have entered the zone after it becoming contested, was: 3min - now: 5min I have added this very changelog in the "tournament-info" channel on the ACC-Discord as well. 15. Hey all, I have been observing this issue for quite some time now, sadly one is unable to select the GND fusing option on pretty much any JDAM (GBU31V, GBU38,...). This bug has been existing for the majority of the year now. I am unsure if I recall any subsequent issues that follow this bug in terms of attacking and destroying targets though... Please see the attached .trk-File and short videos. This very bug has been mentioned in a different thread (link here), however I think it has been falsely moved to "Missions and Campaigns" since it is present pretty much anywhere (SP, MP, ...). Cheers and thank you for looking at it. Video Links: GBU-31V: GBU-38 JDAM: GBU31VPenetrator_NoGNDModeSelectable.trk GBU38JDAM_NoGNDModeSelectable.trk
  16. DxDiag_18Oct23.txt One note that I forgot in the post above: Looking up or just rendering the skybox (not being able to see terrain or cockpit), the FPS returns to normal [as can be seen in the .trk-files. If you need me to record a video of that let me know]. Switching from AVC to HEVC or turning it off during the runtime of DCS also seems to resume to normal FPS. Adding to the post: Here is a DxDiag report of my system and a log+trk file, one with AVC- and one with HEVC-Codec ReLive Recording enabled whilst slotting on Growling Sidewinders Server, taken just now in DCS-MT. As mentioned, I cannot reproduce the same issue in single player - otherwise I would have included those .trk files as well. w/ kind regards HEVC+MT on MP.trk HEVC+MT on MP.log AVC+MT on MP.trk AVC+MT on MP.log
  17. The following post includes both issue and the solution I have found after testing and troubleshooting for the sake of reproduction, testing and fixing (if possible). Hey everyone, For weeks I have been plagued by FPS issues during multiplayer sessions on well known Servers such as BlueFlag, the Growling Sidewinder as well as Graywolfs Grayflag Server, pretty much making the game unplayable near ground, in cockpit or as a whole. These issues are severe, since the game drops from [my] regular 80-110fps (depending on terrain and surroundings) to 12-30fps. I was extensively trying to find the cause of this issue - especially since, mostly playing online and PvP (DCS competitive too), it meant that there was not much to do for me in game with frames always being this low. Knowing that AMD never had the best or most stable GPU drivers, I was almost certain that it was related to my drivers - especially since that issue popped up (again) after updating to the newest one a few weeks back. I tried out different DCS Graphics settings (I think i might have tested out every possible combination by now), clean installing different GPU drivers (with DDU ensuring a true clean install), tried testing it with and without community mods, and so on and so forth. The most annoying part of this issue is that it felt unreproducible, unpredictable and persistent until I restart my game, only to sometimes realize that the issue comes back after a couple of seconds or minutes after slotting into a plane. The following findings have been learned with a vanilla DCS install (No Mods, Full Repair etc.). Trying out different recent AMD drivers did not seem to improve the situation, until I decided to turn off my Radeon ReLive feature. This feature records the last x seconds for you to save on pressing a Hotkey - an instant replay feature also known as NVIDIA Shadow Play on NVIDIA GPUs. Here's where I found my solution for the issue, with which I hope the Testers or ED Team can investigate if possible. Issue: - DCS performance (Single or Multithreaded versions affected alike) drops from regular >80fps to <30fps on busy multiplayer servers (unreliably reproduceable in Single Player) Fix/Workaround: Cause: Instant Replay Feature (I can only be sure about AMD's ReLive, as I dont own an NVIDIA card) Fix 1: Turn off Radeon ReLive feature Fix 2: Set Video Codec from AVC to HEVC. Switching from AVC to HEVC also fixes the issue with ReLive enabled. The issue could also be observed while recording DCS with an AVC-Codec, with the frames dropping to mentioned 12-30fps during recording, only to go up to [my] regular ~100fps - so recording with AVC (ReLive disabled) would still cause the frames to drop. Now, I know that this is strongly related to AMD and their drivers - however I have not observed any similar behavior in any other game but DCS. As I am lacking the tools, I can only guess to what the root of the issue is. I very much hope that posting this bug report including my solution might help out others that have the same issue, as well as get the attention by ED/AMD to maybe check it out. (not going to argue about how useful or sensible an instant replay feature is, thats everyone's own choice and I like saving highlights). If you need logs, trackfiles or other information that I have not been able to include here, please notify me. Thanks. 19. Hey all, I have been seeing the same issues since a couple of patches now. Often when there is an F14 (now an F15E as well) in the mission or as soon as someone changed their livery. I dont know in how far this is an actual bug in the game's engine, it is known that DCS does not or used to not unload certain things or objects even if they are dead or out of view so I would not be surprised if there is an underlying bug that causes this rather unusual loss of performance. Regularly I can play at 90 to 120fps depending on mission and terrain - with the Textures set to High (which I had set it to since I started playing DCS in 2021) I quickly get limited to 20-40 fps near the ground or when looking inside my cockpit, which is very odd to me since it used to be fine. I was able to fix this problem by lowering my Texture Setting to "Medium". DCS then behaves as usual and I simply expect my RX5700XT not to be able to handle DCS with its 8GBs of GDDR6. (both on MT and ST). Hope that helps. For transparency, here is my PC configuration and my DCS Settings: CPU: AMD R5 3600X MB: MSI B550 Gaming Plus RAM: 32GB@3200Mhz CL16 GPU: Aorus RX5700XT OC (8GB GDDR6) DCS running on a 1TB SATA SSD with Windows Pagefile set to 28gb (apart from MT doing wonky stuff [Access Violations], DCS has never crashed on me with a Memory Issue since manually troubleshooting the "Out of Memory" and "Bad Memory Pointer" issues and setting the Pagefile to an adequate size. You dont need to do that I just thought it might be of interest)
  20. Asphelite presents: AERIAL COMBAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON 2023 "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." Winston Churchill Dear fighter pilots and friends - I am incredibly proud to announce the first instance of this entirely new tournament! Aerial Combat Championship, ACC or AC² for short, is a 6v6, NoAWACS, BVR Tournament created with the intend to provide a new approach to the competitive tournaments, while also enrichening the amount of tournaments available. I will talk about more specific info on how the tourny is set up a bit further down, but first I would like to elaborate on my motivation or why I set out to create this tournament: Flying DCS since early 2021 and competing in the competitive space since joining my squadron in ~August-September 2021, together with OneTrickPony we have been able to compete in numerous events - SATAL and SATAC, TACT and others just to name a few - and sadly had some few bad but mostly a lot of great experiences in these past tournaments. I personally (and my team) often felt like some different or variating modes or setups were missing - so I finally decided to make my run for it. With ACC I am aiming to give everyone a great place and opportunity to have fun in their favorite airframe, while also trying to make it fair. I value good communications and I hope you find that I stand by my word. For me, honest sportsmanlike behaviour is at upmost priority and I expect this from every one of you as well. I am very lucky to have a couple of very experienced pilots from different squadrons help me refine the ruleset I created - and without @vtaf_archer, I dont think that I would have been able to create the many scripts and systems that I initially planned for. Thank you all very much for that You all are incredible people and pilots and I would not be able to bring this tournament to everyone without you. Alright, with all of that being said: Lets get to business, shall we? GENERAL INFORMATION The ACC Discord-Server serves as the main source of information as well as the means for organizing each element during the tournament. Please join the server for everything important via the link below: -> Discord Invite Link <- Please be informed that every detail about the tournament can be found in the Discord and will be explained there in more depth, as well as giving you the opportunity to directly ask questions (ticket system [preferred] or public channel). This forum post serves as a rough overview. Discord Server Membership is required for a valid sign up. Format and Structure Aerial Combat Championship (ACC) is a 6 versus 6, NoAWACS, BVR tournament focused solely on the competitive PvP aspect of DCS. Unlike other tournaments, its combat zone is rectangular (see Discord maps-setup section). A maximum of 16 teams may sign up for the tournament. ACC consists of two phases - a group and an elimination phase. 1) Group phase: The phase consists of two stages, with 4 groups consisting of 4 teams each. Every team plays against each other team in its respective group ("Round Robin"). Group allocation will be random in Stage 1, for Stage 2 there is a fair system in place ensuring compliance with the rest of the rules (see the Discord Ruleset Channels for more detailed information). 2) Elimination phase: This phase consists of two divisions, created from the top 8 and bottom 8 teams at the end of the group phase. Each division plays their own Knockout, so everyone stays in the tournament until their ultimate defeat during the eliminations. Restrictions Airframe Restrictions: - Modern airframes only - No F15C -> there is an F15E Weapons-pool: - No Jammers, no Smokes, no A2G Weapons - TALDS, TPODs allowed Other limitations: - No 9X - Max. 8 A2A Missiles - Max. 4x Fox-3 (any) - Max. 2x R-73 WSO's and RIO's are welcome! (No restrictions) Sign Ups You can only sign up via the Discord linked above. Please monitor this thread or the Discord for announcements. Scheduling Each stage and phase has a deadline. Matches are to be completed prior to the deadline expiring. The initial schedule will include default dates, however everyone is free to negotiate a more fitting date and time as long as such a rescheduling is within the rules of the tournament. Prizes Currently, there are no prizes - you fight for fun and honor. Honor and Glory - Dignity in Death Further Information - Maps flown during the tournament are Caucasus, Syria and Persian Gulf - since not everyone has all the maps, there is a common map-pool created during the match-selection process, providing "replacement" or "substitute" maps in case of missing maps, always allowing to choose one out of three maps. Please see the rules-section on the discord or the rulebook below. - There will be dedicated tournament servers. (Big thanks to everyone at OneTrickPony for allowing me to use the servers) - Matches will be streamed live (if possible). Please monitor the Discord Servers announcement chat for that purpose. - Please join the discord or DM me directly, if you have questions. I am happy to assist and clarify. Thank you for taking a look at all of this, it really means a lot to me. Please see the Ruleset on the Discord for detailed information on any these topics, it is extremely important that you have read them. Alternatively, if you do not wish to join the discord yet, feel free to take a look at the full Rulebook attached to this very forum post. Please join the Discord (Invite Link here) for further and especially more detailed information. I hope I could wake your teams interest in participating in this tournament. I am very much looking forward to seeing you soon with kindest regards Asphelite Fight's on! Contact: Discord @Asphelite If you wish to provide prizes by sponsoring the tournament despite this being the first iteration of the tournament and my appearance as an organizer, please DM me via Discord. 21. Have been seeing the same issue, Singlethreaded works fine. The last Hotfix before today brought that issue to me. One should not have to disable XMP in order to play a game, clearly something not right here.
  22. The issue(s) appear immediately after interacting with the F10 map on a server with multiple scripts running (e.g.: Grayflag, Blueflag; -> see Grimes post above). This includes the vanishing of icons as seen below. (The Multiplayer and Role Selection screens are affected as well, similar to other screenshots taken by other fellow pilots) 1. yes, latest OB 2.7.16.28111 2. Aorus RX5700XT on latest Driver available 22.5.1 3. 8GB of GDDR6
  23. Thank you Archer for your efforts! It's exactly what has been bothering all of us and it is what many of us have been trying to say or have stated elsewhere on the forum or in Discord before... Using the 120C regularly or in competitive to be exact, I often observed it doing "weird" or "unexpected" things when shot between 10 or 15nm in a way that it corrects target-movement or aspect change a bit too much and loses track on half the way or its being notched by that max G turnaround. That always feels a bit off and its obviously very frustrating. Im sorry that I cannot provide tacviews or evidence for that right now, but its something many have observed if you were to ask them. (I edited this part as I wasnt happy with how it turned out when reading it back a couple times and I dont want people to misunderstand me) I fully agree with you that a roadmap would be lovely to have and that theres huge potential in testing things in CB. I just feel like I dont know what is going on except that I know something is being changed... Thanks again Archer, I hope this gets the attention that it needs. (I edited this reply a few times, because it read a bit worse than I wanted it to be, please excuse me)
