P3CFE Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 (edited) Is it just me, or is the "Airspeed Indicator" reading an other kind of speed ?. In a Hover with a headwind it seems to read arround Zero Knots. And it also looks like, a Climb and descend rate is influencing the Indicated Airspeed. Edited November 3, 2024 by P3CFE
ED Team Lord Vader Posted November 4, 2024 ED Team Posted November 4, 2024 Hi @P3CFE Can you create a simple scenario where you observe these discrepancies? Esquadra 701 - DCS Portugal - Discord
P3CFE Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 (edited) Definately something wrong here ! IAS should read 50 kts when parked on the Tarmac, because of the headwind of 50 Kts....It reads Zero !. If I go in hover with nose into the wind, IAS is stil zero. If i turn tail into the wind, and keep the hover (hell of a Job by the way )..IAS Still Zero ! IF i Climb in the hover IAS go's up. If i stop the Climb IAS again Zero IF i Descent IAS Go's Up Again. So it looks like the IAS is giving absolute speed in relation with a fixed point in space. I can imagine this gives a problem with calculating ETA Etc. Hope this helps. 50 Kts headwind.miz Edited November 4, 2024 by P3CFE
ED Team Lord Vader Posted November 5, 2024 ED Team Posted November 5, 2024 Thanks for the track and the description. The vertical speed being read as airspeed is something we've identified earlier and had previously reported internally. I am adding your note about the mission wind as well. Thanks. 1 Esquadra 701 - DCS Portugal - Discord
