commo81 Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 I'm not sure if anyone else has this issue, but Since around May 2024 after I think it was the 2.8.5.40170 update, I have had issues in VR with using the lantirn pod on the F14B. The first thing I noticed is when the lantirn pod displays image and jester is given a command such as Qsno, the lantirn turns and points at the aircraft fuselage. Additionally, If I use Qeyes mode to manually move the pod and look around, the pod does not look where I place the red dot, but continues looking either at the fuselage or under the aircraft. Ground stabilize does nothing. If I tell jester to look at a specific area and search for ground targets, the pod is not moved to that location. I never had any problems using the lantirn pod before May 2024. I use a Quest 2 and fly in VR always. Is there anyone else experiencing that or anyone that may have some resolution to this problem? As of May, The lantirn has been totally useless to me. I'd appreciate any help!

hannibal Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 (edited) my experience with Jester and Lantirn are similar. 1) i have no problem (i think) with lantirn display. for the most part the display is on when i am in A/G mode 2) Q-eyeballs .. usually does NOT work. i think i got him to look at an area once recently, if i am looking at an area that is with in (close) 2-3 miles.. but i have to investigate that.. otherwise he just looks all over the place 3)Ground Stabilize also did NOT work for me. But my experience as RIO, you have to be at a certain distance to ground stabilize so that lantirn can find some contrast on area. as a RIO, usually i would press the area track to ground stabilize.. so now i wonder if there is a way to have Jester enable Area Track.. but again, you cant ground stabilize from too far out. with the limitations, i only been able to get jester to point track a target is to 1) set a waypoint to a target and fly towards 2) use q HUD mode and fly & search targets on VDI display in relation to flying toward waypoint. 3) when a target (white bricks from FLIR) appears, tell jester to search for target and 80 percent of the time he finds it... (i would Q way point, but he wonders away on lantirn) Edited November 21, 2024 by hannibal 1 find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
commo81 Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 Thx Bunzy, I searched and didn't even see that thread. Yeah it worked fine since I started the sim back in 2022. Generally I use Q eyeball to search when I'm around 10-15 Miles out then once acquired turn in, or I orbit, acquire, then turn in. Altitude between 10,000 and 12,000. Never had an issue till May. I would use the other one which escapes my mind right now (birthday today, getting old, memory loss lol) the one to the right of Qeye where it puts the circle near the screen and I can move the lantirn with my head then stabilize. I use that one cause Jester doesn't acquire command centers, so I do it manually from the front. Even that doesn't work. The Pod is usually looking at the fuselage for the most part even in QSNO.

commo81 Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 Sry for the delay Draconus, been taking care of elderly parents. No it doesn't help to re-arm bombs. I usually use Qeyes and tell jester where to look, but since this started, neither qeyes or direct control works. If I look straight ahead, the lantirn turns 90 deg to left and looks at the fuselage. 1

It does that if you let it when you actually wait instead of designating. Please, @Silhou, be so kind and report it - track attached. LANTIRN is moving all the way to the left after selecting Qeyeball mode. Generally, LANTIRN does work in VR (when you see it) in both Qeyeball and Direct head movement modes though.
