Liquid rocket engines produce significantly less smoke than solid fuel engines.
We will slightly increase the smoke density of the second stage of SA-2 missile, but do not expect too much noticeable smoke.
In the future, we will introduce a dependence of smoke visibility on air temperature. At negative temperatures, a noticeable contrail is formed there.

SA-3 missile is completely solid fuel and its smoke will be solid too.

We made some improvements in SA-2 missile smoke:

• Default smoke density of liquid engine is increased.
• Added contrail depends on air temperature

All these improvements will be available in 2025 winter update of DCS.

Please see two screenshots. They were made in one mission but with various air temperature, first in summer with +30 C degrees and second in winter with -12C degrees. The altitude of contrail is very depend on air conditions.
