jmarso Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 I swear I had to replay this f----g mission about a dozen times because every time I went after that second Grison, it got me. Finally nailed the little bastard but even then it was chaff and flares city at the end- I saw the missile come off the rail on the FLIR right after I pickled my last Maverick, broke hard, hit dispense, and let the auto program do its thing. Got lucky on the umpteenth try. I was getting to that point where I was about ready to put my fist through my monitor. DCS needs an in-game save function like no other game ever made. It just SUCKS to get an hour into a mission, get wasted, and then have to go back and start at zero, cold and dark on the ramp.
Tblue282 Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 I haven’t played this mission yet but I have went after sa-19s with mavs in other self made missions. Do you have a printout of the various Sam systems and engagements distances ? I found one some years ago and it really helped me out
jmarso Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 I looked up the Grison after I finally beat the mission. With the weather, you really end up flirting on the edges of its engagement range in order to get a maverick to lock onto it.
Tblue282 Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Haha, well at least I know what I’m in for tomorrow morning.
Tblue282 Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 (edited) Well, I took a while to find the SA-19 and engaged it without getting clearance so I guess I think I screwed up the mission as it went all quiet and didn’t proceed. However think I finally found good contrast settings to see things better in the Flir and Mav so there’s that. Edited December 16, 2024 by Tblue282
rmcclo Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Ugh, I shacked the Grison, but watched it from my chute. In Tacview, it got me at the very edge of the engagement envelope. Would have had it if I went defensive a split second earlier. I think I had the MAV lock earlier than I was aware, but got a little confused with the resolution and rendering in the MFD. Great campaigns! It's tough switching between F/A-18C and the 16 with the different hotas commands, but I'm glad I'm getting a feel for each.
HanuXXL Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 M04 has been so far the hardest mission for me. I had really really hard time spotting it against all snow etc, but finally on the fifth take I managed to bag that mission. Really great campaign so far; only two missions left. I however need a lot of more practice with F-16 to start that part of the "same" campaign, but that is the intention. I thought I was quite adept with F-18 before I tried this one, but no... It has been one great learning experience. Surely I'm not ready for the same level of campaign with Viper yet! 1
baltic_dragon Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Thanks guys! I highly recommend Reflected's campaign!
