Steel Jaw Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Normally for this (v) Bug Driver, no Boats Ops is a no-buy for me. But I waiver. Someone talk me into purchasing... jmarso Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 (edited) Actually, it's a nice break being 'away from the Boat.' Plus, you fly the missions from a highway runway with parking spots dispersed in the forest, which is pretty dang cool. Up to mission 7 and have enjoyed it. It's heavy on CAS and light on A/A, which is my only real gripe, but it's hella fun. And, at times, hella frustrating. Not because of bugs, but because of the difficulty of the missions and my own junior varsity proficiency with Hornet A/G sensors. In the limited A/A arena I've done a lot better. 4 kills by mission 7 and hoping for a chance at ace status! Edited December 16, 2024 by jmarso 1
DimSim Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Now I'm enthused. I didn't realize the campaign was away from the boat. I'm tired of the boat for both Bug and Harrier. Was thinking I'd have to get the F16 version just to get a break from carrier ops! 1

Tblue282 Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 I would recommend for sure. I’m about half way through and my only frustration comes from my own rust in the Hornet. An added bonus is I recently got up to speed in the F16 and get to experience this scenario from another point of view too. It’s definitely worth the buy. 2
Andrei Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Just finished the campaign. It's a good one, I liked it overall. It might not be as 'good' as some of the other BD campaigns - I can't tell why exactly , but it just feels a little empty compared to some others. The native voiceovers are great. I encountered 0 bugs which would affect gameplay, which is a great feat on it's own. Missions are of manageable time, and I'd say average difficulty. It's not a demanding campaign. The only two major gripes I have are: 1. Mission taskings overall. FinAF has been training primarily for A2A combat. Ground pounding is good, but secondary. Yet, most of the focus is on A2G (yeah, and there is that crazy mission, but it's easy as well). I understand why BD went for it, but it's still a shame. I was expecting much more A2A action. 2. Music at the end of the missions. WHY SO LOUD?! I know it's coming, but it makes me jump all the time. It would be much, much better without it. 1 AMD R7 5800X3D | Aorus B550 Pro | 32GB DDR4-3600 | RTX 4080 | VKB MGC Pro Gunfighter Mk III + STECS + VKB T-Rudder Mk4 | Pimax Crystal FC3 | A-10C II | Ка-50 | P-51 | UH-1 | Ми-8 | F-86F | МиГ-21 | FW-190 | МиГ-15 | Л-39 | Bf 109 | M-2000C | F-5 | Spitfire | AJS-37 | AV-8B | F/A-18C | Як-52 | F-14 | F-16 | Ми-24 | AH-64 | F-15E | F-4 | CH-47 NTTR | Normandy | Gulf | Syria | Supercarrier | Afghanistan | Kola
