Exorcet Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Hi, I heard about this sim from a friend, and am looking into getting it along with a new flight stick and throttle. I just want to know: what's a reasonable price for the game (I've seen $12-$45) the best place to buy it (preferably a store, but online is OK) clarification on Flaming Cliffs (is it its own CD, or just an download that requires you to own the original game) and any good stick/throttle units that work well with the game and aren't too expensive. (Maybe $50 or less for stick and throttle together) Thanks. Kuky Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 About prices I don't know as I don't look around for it so leave this to you, but so you know Flaming Cliffs is a separate product and is an addon to LockOn and yuo can get it as DL or buy CD product. DL version will have StarForce activations and CD weekly dick check. I am pretty sure you could get LockOn Gold which is LockOn + Flaming Cliffs in one product. After that you apply patch v1.12b (you make sure you get correct one as there are different patches for LockOn Gold, Flaming Cliffs DL and Flaming Cliffs CD version (you can check this as lockOn.uk website) About joysticks... again should be your choice, look around and I guess depending how much time you want to "invest" in flight sim(s) depends how good/expensive/cheap joystick you'd wanna get... PS: welcome to forums and world of combat flight sims... if you get sorted out and learn a fea things you can get online as we need more missile/gun fodder :D (j/k) PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Exorcet Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Thanks for the info. Gold sounds like a good buy, I'll look into it. I just found a section of the forum with flight sticks, so I'll look through that. if you get sorted out and learn a fea things you can get online as we need more missile/gun fodder :D (j/k) I'd love to get online, but I think the fight would look more like this, where I'm the MiG, you're the Mirage lol Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files

Exorcet Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 The demo seems to have a few glitches. Especially when the MIR2000 or my own plane gets shot down. Mustang Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 (edited) The demo seems to have a few glitches. Especially when the MIR2000 or my own plane gets shot down. No, the cloud bug isn't unique to the demo, it affects the full game the same way... there is way to correct it, but from the top of my head i cannot recall how, maybe someone around here with an nV card can assist. edit: heres an example, check post #9 in this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=38615 Edited June 29, 2009 by Mustang
Exorcet Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 Well I finally got LOMAC (not FC, heard bad things about starforce). It's great, but there are a few issues and I guess this is the best place to get them resolved. First, I can't keep MiG-29's in the air. When I make a mission, they don't fly to their waypoints, they hang around for a while then land. Is this a known glitch? Second, when I give orders using the backslash key, my flight controls go haywire about 10% of the time. For example, the stick gets stuck fully pulled back, and I end up in a spin in a plane that doesn't respond to control inputs. Third and last, can you get full functionality out of a laptop keyboard. I can't pan the camera or zoom in and out, anything requiring the number pad keys, I can't do. Hopefully two and three will be resolved when I get a flight stick, but #1 is a pain since I like making missions and since the MiG-29 is one of the better planes that I like using. Any help for any of the three issues would be appreciated. Kuky Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Don't worry about StarForce, nothing wrong with it ;) As for the migs not flying where you want them to, first make sure they don't need to fly too fast as then they might go into burners and use up the fuel quickly and will then need to abort mission and go to land at nearest base... I guess range you give them also matters in this case. Exorcet Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 The MiG's have external tanks and I only put them up to speed after take off (they'll climb for a couple of miles), after that they fly no faster than 500 knots, often closer to 400. I'll double check the mission though, I've made some typing errors before. Kuky Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 well as they climb they will most likely be using afterburners... run the mission and watch them in externals to see if they are using them more extended period of time. Exorcet Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 Turned out to be the simplest problem, I had the waypoints set up wrong. They were next to the route of another flight so I didn't notice. And while I'm here, I'll leave one last question: How do you go about getting online? I can't find a list of servers/players. Kuky Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 to go online you have 2 options... you can either install that UBI service and connect there or download and install HyperLobby client... most people use the later... but you should know everyone at hyperlobby is using LockOn + FlamingCliffs + patch 1.12b and you need to have the same as different versions are not compatible. PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
51GRIZZLY Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Allso if you for some starforce paranoia reason decide to stick with With LockOn v.1.0 only i would urge you to download and patch it up to v.1.02 (youll find the patch here) http://www.ubi.com/UK/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=576 It fixes alot of problems from the initial release. Sadly you will find allmost no online servers running 1.02 anymore (Not even on UBI) so youll have to have a buddy ot two you can link up with. So if you think you have any chance at all shooting KuKy out of the sky like in your picture you must know that All servers on hyperlobby run Lockon Flaming Cliffs v.1.12b so thats the way to go if you want to fly/fight online. 1
Exorcet Posted January 2, 2010 Author Posted January 2, 2010 Bump So, I'm looking at getting Flaming Cliffs again. But I'm just wondering if I'll lose all of my missions. I've made quite a lot. Brit_Radar_Dude Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Simply copy all your own missions and campaigns to a safe area elsewhere on your PC. They will be in the ........\lockon\missions folder. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
