I set the speed of Mach 0.5 in the editor for the first point.

But in flight, I always see the speed on the HUD higher than 0.5 and much higher.

Often I can't even reach that speed.

In this case, I've already reached Mach 0.7, but I haven't even reached the set speed, although I set Mach 0.5 for the first point in the editor.

I think what you set there is the desired speed at passing way point 1. Click the left arrow on the way point selector to select the start point. You can change your initial altitude and speed there.

No, comrade, I don't think that's the caseI used a route with only one point for clarity. I already have the desired speed and height set in the editor for that point. This is Mach 0.5 or 613 km/hNext, here's a picture from Chuck's famous guide

I expect the waypoint caret to indicate 340 knots or 380 miles, which corresponds to 613 km/h and Mach 0.5.

But you can see that the indication is much much higher. It remains much higher even though I'm already flying at 830 km/h or Mach 0.7.

This happens at all points along the route. I can make a route with 10 or 20 points, but I always see the same thing, the carets are always above the set speed for the route.

Did you spawn later or were these picture taken at exactly the spawning time?

You have a time delta of 14 minutes, and thus also the speed caret much higher.

I think I see the issue.

In the mission editor, that speed is just there to calculate the time of arrival at that waypoint. Since the aircraft doesn't dynamically calculate the time to the waypoint based on a fixed speed, the calculated time of arrival is loaded into the aircraft, and the speed caret is then calculated to show you the speed to arrive on time.

Now, if you do a ground start, which I assume is what you do, the time for that waypoint in the aircraft remains unchanged. So every second on ground leads to you being late and the speed caret going up.

So especially for the first waypoint if you start from ground, it's better to tick the "time at" checkbox in the editor instead of the "speed" checkbox and then calculate yourself a proper takeoff time and ingress speed. After that, using the speed option in the editor should be fine.

The main issue here is just the timing of the very first waypoint if you don't immediately take off.

What razor says!

Additionally, you could put this to test by altering the ToT via your UFC and see the speed caret change its position to reflect that.
