cannot repoduce and missing track file HMD dissapearing in flight.

So I am new to the game and currently have a trial of the F-16. Twice, including my last flight, I turned on the HMCS before takeoff and it worked, but at some point during the flight it disappeared and I couldn't figure out how to get it to reappear. The first thing I tried was to turn the knob up and down again bit that didn't work.

So does anyone know what could be causing it to disappear and how I can get it back again?

You don't have to wait for it to happen, you can try it next time you fly. DMS AFT long and it will turn off, when you do it again it will turn back on.

If that is not what you are doing when it turns off, then you need to check if some other keybind is set to DMS AFT.

If the DMS AFT long Button Press doesn't work, look for the visor toggle and/or up and down Button. Perhaps you have bound one of them without knowing. In RL you would see that, because the world would become brighter if you would raise the tinted visor, but not in DCS (so sad). So this can have the same effect as the DMS long after press.

And you don't have to wait. Go into the controls section and search for visor. Then you will see, if there is an active binding for your controls, or what key bind is activating it.

I'm having an issue where my HMCS is turning off randomly in flight and it will not turn back on. DMS AFT long does not work. When the HMCS is working DMS AFT works fine, but when it randome shuts off its gone for good.

You know you can pull the HMD visor up with a key, you sure you are not pressing that?

Also check the knob if its turned back, and also check if some other key is bound to DMS AFT.

I don't have that mapped, I will map it now and try to lower it..... And, no, raising, lowering or toggling the visor does not bring it back. It seems every other flight it disapears. I will have to clear all chached items and run a repair and see if it continues. I've tried all forms of DMS AFT I've turned the brightness know off and back on, both with the bound know and using the mouse. I've tried everything HMCS related I can find, even in the ICP.

Randomly, further along in the mission I hit DMS AFT and the HMCS came back. I looked into the cockpit and it went away, as it should,I touched nothing and I looked out of the cockpit and it was once again not on.

That can't happen, I fly the viper often. Any chance you have a mod installed?

Visor down and up needs a few seconds to finish an animation until you have the HMD back on or off.
DMS AFT needs to be pressed LONG or it does something completely different. Check your stick or controller if the input command is indeed constant on that long press.

We need a track to see that happening.
If you have any steps to reproduce, will be faster to fix if there is a bug.

I have had it on inside the cockpit or HUD when it should not be, and toggling HUD blanking and cockpit blanking off and on again solved the problem.

So... have you tried turning it off and on again?
