digitalJE5U5 Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I've fallen back in love with the fighter sims after a long hiatus. I just recently starting playing LOMAC FC for the first time and although it is all still new and enjoyable, I am wondering what is coming down the pipeline - either from DCS or otherwise? What is the next great thing in fighter sims that everyone is looking forward to? /dj

digitalJE5U5 Posted July 2, 2009 Author Posted July 2, 2009 Storm of War should be epic, like IL-2 on steroids Looks damned sexy! But looks to still be a year or so out there. IL-2 on steroids is probably the only thing that could brag me away from my F-15 right now. Well that and some LOMAC on steroids. Black Shark is really hot looking, but I just cant get into the helo like I do the planes. :pilotfly: /dj

Kuky Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I hope the road textures don't go zig-zaggin like that in final release, judging from that screenshot the terrain will be awsome flying low or high... knowing this sim will have dynamic weather, every part of the aircraft it's own damage model, dynamic weathering and all the other goodies (like no one can muck around with game code like in IL-2) this sim should take me over for a long time... multiplayer will be awsome :smilewink: PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

SOW is designed to be mod friendly. IL-2 was not designed with mods in mind, but SOW is... Kuky Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Nooooooooooooooooo! Don't tell me that! One thing I really liked about IL-2 is that people cold not mod it... the game was same for all... no hacks, no cheats, no explots... why can't it stay like that???? Kuky Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Thanks for the info but I've stopped flying IL-2 series for good 4 years now :) PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

One thing I really liked about IL-2 is that people cold not mod it... the game was same for all... no hacks, no cheats, no explots... why can't it stay like that???? You have never checked AAA's mod policy have you. Their policy states that you are not allowed to post mods there that modify default flightmodels, loadouts, or anything that could effectively be used as a cheat. The only things AAA has are extra content such as new planes, and replacement sound effects so every aircraft doesn't sound like a lawn mower. Hell, Oleg seems to be looking at the mods in a positive way now according to a interview with him at SimHQ. It's obvious that you are one of the ones who never actually tried the new mods. The mods are NOT HACKS or CHEATS or EXPLOITS, as if you are caught doing that, especially at the MOD sites, you will be BANNED. The UbiZoo has even gotten over the mod phobia. They now allow the talk of mods there because after over a year, AAA has done a good job at preventing the things you are paranoid about from getting out. The mods will EXPAND the life of the sim, just like they did for MSFS.
