Basically right as I was about to touch down one of the F-15s decided to cross the runway. I know that this is a DCS thing, but I'm hoping some kind of trigger / safeguard could be implemented to prevent this. Maybe the odds of this happening are 1 in a million, so I guess I'm just unlucky as that xD

It would suck loosing a 2 hour mission to run into an AI jet on the runway.

Why should it be prevented? 🙂 It could happen in real life too. A good pilot should fly the jet until the engine stops and not take anything for granted. I hope you added power and went around?

BTW the time when the Eagles get home and the time you land are both VERY dynamic and totally unpredictable for me in the mission editor. Actually ,if I could add it to the mission on purpose, it's something I would do, just to test the player 🙂

It should be prevented because the airfield is controlled by an ATC, it's not the wild west lmao

If ATC clears me to land that means the runway is clear, and that should definately not be a "ha gotcha" moment. I did see the eagle on time and managed to fly over it and land normally, but it was actually surprisingly difficult to see as the livery matched the runway in those lightning conditions.

Anyways, I'm gonna say again I know DCS AI and ATC leaves a lot to be desired and everything has to be stiched together with a bunch of scripting and you can't prevent or predict every single outcome, but adding a trigger and a voiceline to the ATC could fix this:

If F15s are in a trigger zone and have not crossed the runway ATC tells you to hold in pattern

When they've crossed ATC continues as normal.

Maybe it's not as simple but I really don't think "skill issue" is the correct reply lol

It 's not a skill issue for sure. Setting up a completely dynamic, AI dependent ATC system in the mission editor is not possible, however.

And there have certainly been cases in the past where pilots did stuff they were not cleared to, or ATC controllers have had lapses of attention. All I'm saying is that you should never take anything granted just because someone told you so, that's one of the first things they taught me at flight school.

Watch out for more unexpected events in the campaign. In all my missions I enjoy throwing evil curveballs at the players to test their problem solving skills and see if they are paying attention. This one could just as well have been intentional, but it wasn't 🙂

You should watch some episodes of Mayday/Air Crash Investigation, (Name depending on where you watch it).

Are you aware of many people that have been killed on the runway in crashes between airplanes? You might have heard of the biggest one in Tenerife. Two Jumbos, 583 people poof... 61 survivors. 😔

In a training mission for the C-101 you actually have to perform a go around at the last minute. I'd love to see more of this. 🤞🏻

Cheers! 🥂

And that's why we love your campaigns! ❤️
