ouseler Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I have been flying a SEAD campaign in which a ground target (SAM emitter) is called out as "224 for 26", for example. Now I could simply use the HAD page to cursor over to the displayed target (coordinates are shown on the lower portion of the page) and designate the target once it has detected the emitter and triangulates its relative position. The TGP would follow and, if dropping a bomb, I would fine tune the location and designate thru the TGP for the drop. Easy enough. Of course, the emitter is active and that can be a problem in of itself. However, what if I am given a target list of confirmed target locations but they are not emitting and I want to hit them before they can go active? Currently I use the HAD page and cursor over to the coordinates and find the relative location to the target from me or a Steerpoint. Then I go the TGP page and make it SOI, then flip over the HSD and move the TGP cursor to the relative location and attempt to find the target from there. However, I don't see similar coordinates to the HAD page on the HSD page have to go to the relative location from memory and hope to find the target. Is there a way to show the HAD page coordinates "224 26", for example, on the HSD so I can (at least for known target locations) cursor over to the coordinates and then flip over to the TGP and be very close to the target location? DD_fruitbat Posted January 16 Posted January 16 (edited) The TGP will automatically slave to the location of the emitter selected by the HAD once they go active. The better the PGM quality the closer to the exact location. A PGM of 1 it will be almost right on top of it, with PGM 2 it will be close enough that you can find it pretty easily. I made this vid ages ago showing this, of course they have to be active for this to work. As far as I know, if the emitter is not active the HAD will be of no use finding the SAM. razo+r Posted January 16 Posted January 16 There are many ways to do it. If you get range and azimuth from a waypoint, you can create offset waypoints. If you get coordinates, you can manually add a new steer/markpoint. If you get range and azimuth from bullseye, use the HSD/FCR. If you get range and azimuth from you, turn to the heading and use SP on your FCR/TGP.
ouseler Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 I know how to set a Steerpoint using LAT/LONG. How would I set a Steerpoint/WP/Markpoint using bearing and range from Bullseye? razo+r Posted January 16 Posted January 16 You could try doing an offset waypoint from the bullseye steerpoint, manually add a waypoint with the help of the F10 map or use the TGP/FCR in snowplow, move the cursor to the range and azimuth and then create a markpoint that way.

This is where i would make a VIP from any reference steerpoint (such as bullseye), and then make an offset aimpoint to said target. Wags has a basic video of this, and it is mentioned in the F16 manual. Edited January 16 by NytHawk 2
ouseler Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 Perfect!! This will work great for target list situations. Thanks!!! 1 System Specs: AMD 5950X (liquid-cooled), Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Pro Motherboard, 32 GB RAM DDR4 3200MHz, Samsung Evo 970 Plus 2 TB, Seagate 2TB SSD, Geforce RTX 4080 GPU, Rosewill Glacier 1000W Power Supply, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (Stick, Throttle), Thrustmaster TPR Rudder Pedals, NaturalPoint TrackIR 5 w/ProClip, (1) Vizio 40" 4K Monitor, TPLink Dual Band Wireless Card, Window 11 OS
