Has anyone else experienced a stall like this? is it just with the F16? or can all jets stall?

I didn't think DCS could do/simulate this. This has never happened to me at all and I wasn't expecting it! I left it in the video and it ended up being the most dramatic piece I ever made.

It was quite a struggle!!!!!

One of the recent updates included a major FM change for the F16, which notably gave it significantly improved low speed energy retention, and the ability to get into a deep stall.
The FLCS in the viper has a ~25 degree AoA limiter, however this limiter can be exceeded in some very specific situations which can easily cause a deep stall

That explains why I have never experienced it before! I really struggled!. Kept doing the same thing and used the throttle full to idle while turning the joystick in cyclic motions.

Quite a heart stopping moment!

Remember to use Manual Pitch Override switch when recovering from deep stall in Viper - and just match nose oscillations with stick movements and it will recover.

In that 'other' Viper sim I had to use MPO a LOT - but have never needed it once in DCS in the last 5 years flying the Viper, hopefully that has changed with the latest FM changes.

Interesting. Thanks. Someone over on youtube mentioned the MPO. In the panic, I never thought to use it. Thanks for the tip.

Funny to think that as it happened - i was like "yeah, i think ill bin this footage and start over..."

Ended up being the most dramatic piece of footage I ever put together.

You watch - it won't ever happen again! Lol

For those interested in a more illustrative explanation:

Normally, I would get the tone and the aircraft would just tip to one side and off we go...

On this occasion - I ignored the warnings because I was celebrating a kill and just expected the aircraft to pitch over and fall. It didnt!

Instead, it seemed to get itself locked into a swaying motion with more fall to the left.

It really fascinated me.

Anyone else got it falling like a brick without swaying? anyone had a spin out of it?

Would love to see other peoples experiences.

I had a similar case these days while doing some BFM Training. I was not able to exit. The nose refuse to go down. Not input where taken.

Even with the override pitch?

I had a similar expirience in a dogfight , albiet not geting into a stall is the best practice! Unsure if no flight control respose was a charactaristic as well. Pretty cool Thrust to Weight example towards the end....
