George's IHADSS too bright for low-light conditions

The pilot's IHADDS has the full range of brightness which is great for night flying.

George on the other hand is limited to 10 discrete levels of brightness, the lowest of which is too bright for the dark.

Hello @Lixma 06

I assume you're using keybinds or joystick buttons for this.

However, the Pilot IHADSS brightness symbology is operated by a rotary knob which allows some level of fine tuning.
While the CPG IHADSS brightness symbology is controlled by a TEDAC rocker switch, which may not have the same precision you desire.

I can ask if we can increase the brightness levels step, but I'm pretty sure you cannot make such precise adjustments like with a rotary knob.

I understand the CPG uses a rocker switch (instead of an axis) with 10 levels of brightness - the problem is the lowest setting is far too bright for night work.

The AH-64D is indeed designed to operate during hours of darkness, but it wasn't intended to be operated at low altitudes near terrain or obstacles in an "unaided" manner without the use of the PNVS or TADS FLIR sensors (or night vision goggles as an alternative). And the CPG is certainly not going to be trying to detect targets at night using the unaided eye.

If you are intending to fly at night without the use of the PNVS, TADS, or night vision goggles, higher altitudes should be utilized at which terrain or man-made obstructions will not be encountered. If the lowest setting of the IHADSS is still too bright for use, I would recommend removing the IHADSS monocle entirely.
