Headwarp Posted January 29 Posted January 29 (edited) I am so glad to get rid of that Obutto seat. I'd bent something inside the Obutto seat by standing on it at one point.. and frankly.. I never want a seat near my computer with bolsters as long as I live. I have a bum shoulder, back issues. Bolsters are restrictive. I'm at my computer. I don't need a seat that hugs me and gets in my way when I try to reach my table sitting next to me. Seat just wasn't comfy. I wasn't sure what to replace it with so it took me several years of searching but.. finally bit the bullet on the Next Level Flight seat. Not just because of its gimmick, but because of the lack bolsters and the flat surface to rest my behind on. Maybe not the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in, but, definitely an upgrade from the state of my decade old or longer Obutto seat that had given up on me years ago. It honestly wouldn't be all that hard to make a more comfortable seat cushion, as it's just velcroed to the actual seat bass which is made of sheet metal. The new seats rails are 355mm apart and the Obutto's rails are 345mm apart. All it took was filing the holes on one side of the Obutto frame to open them up by about 2-3mm. I had to stack 4 thick fender washers per bolt and had to get some longer bolts to raise the seat up high enough for the adjustment arm to release the rail to let me slide back and forth. I'm not going to tell anybody else to spend this kind of money on a new seat, but for me it was worth the cost and effort, and I just wanted to state it for the record that it can be done in case anybody finds themselves in my shoes. *edit* There is enough room between the center cutout and the backrest for a Dr. Tushy cushion, with the cutout in the back meant to re-distribute your body weight from your spine. Good enough for me. Included pillow is in lumbar position in photos but is much too thick for that purpose afaict. I've got it wrapped around the headrest and it works well there. Seat back is very flat. I might get an actual lumbar pillow but so far so good. I have a VKB Gunfighter 4 mounted to my obutto frame with the low center mount that Obutto makes for it. I don't even know if obutto is still in business or sells it anymore, though I bought mine within the last 5 years.. but just in case anybody else has a gunfighter base mounted to their R3v The center cutout slides right around the base of the stick. I have a 100mm extension and it puts the stick in a good spot. I can rest my arm on my leg for fingertip flight and I have full range of motion. YMMV depending on the thickness of them thighs. Nightdare Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Racing seats are great to remain in position, awkward to bad if you need to move around, fine in racing, counterproductive in dogfights When I got my Playseat, I was looking for a decent (affordable) seat that was as straight as possible, because my previous bucket seat gave me quit some problems checking 6 in VR, where I had to lift myself out of the seat on one butt cheek and 'curl' around the bolsters (no the playseat isn't the shallowest available, but at the price it was, and a HFS8 seat diminished the bowl even more) 2 Intel I5 13600k / AsRock Z790 Steel Legend / MSI 4080s 16G Gaming X Slim / Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64Gb / Adata 960 Max / HP Reverb G2 v2 Virpil MT50 Mongoost T50 Throttle, T50cm Base & Grip, VFX Grip, ACE Interceptor Rudder Pedals w. damper / WinWing Orion2 18, 18 UFC & HUD, PTO2, 2x MFD1 / Logitech Flight Panel / VKB SEM V / 2x DIY Button Box
