Rudel_chw Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Hi, While editing a rocket training mission I realized that the Salvo setting is not working as describe on the manual: if I select a salvo size of 4 rockets, I expect 4 rockets to come out of each pod, but only the inner Pods do, the outer Pods don't begin firing until the inner pods are empty. This with a configuration of two 32 rocket pods on the inner stations, plus two 16 rocket pods on the outer stations. Has anyone else encountered this? Its a bug? Here is a video I did while testing: Thanks for any help with this, Eduardo For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

Hi, Just wanted to add that I repeated the test using four pods of 16 rockets, and the issue happens just the same: only inner pods fire, and once depleted only then the outer pods fire too. Sadly, I doubt this bug will be solved anytime soon, so I will have to add a bug explanation to my training mission in order to be able to release it Eduardo For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Art-J Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) I think it's not a bug really. Just checked Polish "Technical Description of Weapons System" manual for MiG-21 Bis and section 4.7.1. of it, with general information about operation of system responsible for launching unguided rockets, says in point 5 and 6 that only two pods at a time can launch, up to 16 rockets in salvo each. Inner stations have priority and after pods are empty system automatically switches to outer ones. Sounds like what you've noticed in your recent testing. Neither DCS manual nor training missions for the MiG have been thoroughly updated in a looong time (while weapon system modelling has been tweaked numerous times to make its operation more accurate). It's quite possible that launching from all pods was possible when module was new (I don't remember to be honest), then maybe it was changed in the code, but not in the manual. At least that's my theory. Edited February 1 by Art-J 1 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Seems you are correct, a careful reading of the english manual that I have (Pilot’s Flight Operating Instructions No. TK-359), says: "In the course of successive actuations of the firing button, rockets will be fired at first from both inboard rocket pods, in compliance with the preset launch variant (i.e. RETS-4, 8 or 16), then the outboard rocket pods will begin to unload their rockets (automatic switchover will take place after all rockets have been fired from the inboard pods and once the firing button is depressed another time)." 1 hour ago, Art-J said: Inner stations have priority and after pods are empty system automatically switches to outer ones. Correct, seems I will have to update my mission even before its released 1 hour ago, Art-J said: It's quite possible that launching from all pods was possible when module was new ... Yes, it was possible, as this YT image shows: Thanks a lot for the help, I will adjust my mission, as I love to be as realistic as possible Best regards, Eduardo 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
