Nightdare Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Checking the settings in "Show controls" Afterburner 'start' at 80% But looking at the cockpit throttle position, and taking the audible (and external) visual cue from the engines it appears AB ignites at roughly 50% And if I go by the manual and projecting that to the cockpit, Mil-power is indeed at 50% and beyond should venture into the AB range So, what's the deal? Is the "Show Controls" indicator in error, or am I missing some details concerning throttle positions 1 Intel I5 13600k / AsRock Z790 Steel Legend / MSI 4080s 16G Gaming X Slim / Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64Gb / Adata 960 Max / HP Reverb G2 v2 Rhino FFB / Virpil MT50 Mongoost T50 Throttle, T50cm Grip, VFX Grip, ACE Rudder / WinWing Orion2 Navy, UFC&HUD, PTO2, 2x MFD1, PFP7 / Logitech Flight Panel / VKB SEM V / 2x DIY Bodnar Button Panels
WarthogOsl Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Keep in mind that the throttle animation isn't exactly accurate, anyway. In real life, the throttles have to be moved outboard to get into AB. 1

True, but that is 'beside' the point (pun intended ), visually and IRL, the AB seems to begin halfway the cockpit throttle, and not the last 5th of the throw Intel I5 13600k / AsRock Z790 Steel Legend / MSI 4080s 16G Gaming X Slim / Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64Gb / Adata 960 Max / HP Reverb G2 v2 Rhino FFB / Virpil MT50 Mongoost T50 Throttle, T50cm Grip, VFX Grip, ACE Rudder / WinWing Orion2 Navy, UFC&HUD, PTO2, 2x MFD1, PFP7 / Logitech Flight Panel / VKB SEM V / 2x DIY Bodnar Button Panels
Dragon1-1 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 DCS F-14 throttle is mapped to the common detent position on HOTAS sets people use, as to make controls assignment convenient. This doesn't mean it's linearly mapped to the cockpit animation. The Tomcat has an unusually large AB zone, since most people don't have their physical controls set up that way, it makes more sense to make it correspond to that and not to the lever in the cockpit. 1

For hardware that has a detent at 80%, yes Personally, I'm glad I have 1:1 translation, saves me a lot of reconfiguring curves for other modules It just strikes me as odd the AB value in control indicator for the F-14 does not translate 1:1 It would be more clear for setup if the AB lines correspond to where AB actually begins, that the physical axis needs to be virtually reconfigured where 80/20 physical, becomes 50/50 virtual Intel I5 13600k / AsRock Z790 Steel Legend / MSI 4080s 16G Gaming X Slim / Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64Gb / Adata 960 Max / HP Reverb G2 v2 Rhino FFB / Virpil MT50 Mongoost T50 Throttle, T50cm Grip, VFX Grip, ACE Rudder / WinWing Orion2 Navy, UFC&HUD, PTO2, 2x MFD1, PFP7 / Logitech Flight Panel / VKB SEM V / 2x DIY Bodnar Button Panels
wwWolfcom Posted February 11 Posted February 11 around 40% is TF30 mil detent (MIL marking position)null
RustBelt Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Put Throttle at cutoff, click button put throttle at idle, click button, put throttle at mil. Click button, put throttle at max. Click button. why is that so hard? Someone have a patent on it or something? 1

Morat Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I don't have an AB detente set up because I also fly A10 a lot. It seems there's quite a lot of dry power left between "10" on the engine speed gauges and actual 100% mil power. Having said that, it still shoots off the boat just fine and I don't even need full mil for takeoffs from a runway.
