BaronVonVaderham Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Question: why does Opentrack keep failing to run? a week or two I wanted to use it because I forgot to charge my trackIR. But it wouldn’t move. I’m using it together with AITrack. i managed to get it to work by reinstalling Opentrack, but tonight it packed up again and registering didn’t help. any idea why this keeps happening and how I can fix it?

Which version? What happens? Anything in Windows EventViewer? Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
BaronVonVaderham Posted February 22 Author Posted February 22 Well, I start up AITrack, run it. Then I start up Opentrack and run it. Normally it’s supposed to show you the octopus moving as you move your head, but it doesn’t. On AITrack you can see my head move. I’m not familiar with windows event viewer. i tried some of the other settings on Opentrack ) a supposed to work standalone as well), but that didn’t work either.
MAXsenna Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Ah, okay. Never tried AITrack. (I use a PS3 cam with IR leds). Is that for your face or something? I don't think the OpenTrack is the issue. I was under the impression it crashed for you, hence I mentioned the Windows EventViewer to check. (Press LWin and type event and it will show the EventViewer).Wild guess is that OpenTrack doesn't connect to the AITrack "plugin" for some reason. Did you follow the steps to set it up? BaronVonVaderham Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 Hey, sorry for the late response. Yes, the steps are followed, and it used to work fine. What's even weirder, is that suddenly it started working again, and then a few days later it stopped working again. Very frustrating and I cannot figure out what's going on. I suspect you are right about the linking between the two, but it must be something with the system porting it over. It's not a physical thing, its definitely software related. Maybe its related to the virus stuff in Microsoft? 1
LucShep Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) If you're using the most recent (beta) release of OpenTrack then it could be it, people have considered it buggy (even the author alerts for it) https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/releases I'd suggest to install version 2023.3.0, or 2023.2.0, or 2023.1.0, or even 2022.3.2 (further down in the page), see if it helps. I would follow @LucShep's advice and try an older version. Best of luck!
BaronVonVaderham Posted March 17 Author Posted March 17 I actually decided to try something else, using only opentrack. I don’t recall from the top of my head, but it seems to work, and I’m some ways better than AITrack (though movement in axial direction seems to be significantly delayed. Rotation movements seem ok ) 1
