After the last DCS update, all licences did not get recognized. After removing & reinstalling DCS I managed to get the aircraft licenses but not the maps.

I use the DCS Open Beta via Steam.

Anybody got any hints please?

Exclude the Steamapps folder under Program Files (x86)\Steam\ in your Anti-Virus solution (Ie. Defender), THEN perform a file verification of DCS in Steam. Hopefully that will solve it.

I couldn't even get Steam to download the update this morning with Windows Defender on.  Yes you can work around it by turning defender off or excluding the folder, but you shouldn't have to.  This and the Tomcat authorization needs to be fixed by ED.

Please enlighten us how ED is supposed to fix it? You can do the temporary work arounds above, or just wait a couple of weeks for all the AV vendors to whitelist the false positives.

as @MAXsenna has said, this is a false positive. Antivirus programs employ heuristic analysis, which means they look for patterns. Antivirus programs can be overly cautious and flag DLLs as malicious, even when they are not harmful, potentially causing problems with software installations or updates. If you suspect a DLL file is a false positive, you can verify its legitimacy by checking the source of the file, by contacting the software developer for clarification.
