Controller configs - Copying between same PC folders doesn't seem to work

Hi,

I'm using the steam version. 

After experiencing some strange pauses during multiplayer after the last update, I renamed my user/saved games/DCS folder and let the game generate a new one (it cured the pauses). I've tried copying only the old input folder contents and then entire config folder contents across to the new DCS i(deleted all existing first) but the sim doesn't see the mappings. The device ID's and naming of the old configurations matched what was in the new input (after mapping some new buttons to test). Replacing the entire new DCS folder with the old one works fine.

 

I'm fairly sure this worked for me previously. Any thoughts as to what might be happening?

kind of a solution - It seems that if I keep the old DCS folder and delete everything from it except the config folder, then copy everything else from the fresh dcs folder into the old one, it all works   but not the other way around

This is the first time Ive needed to copy over my controller bindings on a win 11 machine. I wonder if windows is changing hidden attributes or something during the file copy?

Ive also tried zipping the config folder and just the inputs folder then moving them over too without success.

@Dogmanbird hello. you seem to have a problem opposite of what this document describes. but it may help to understand what is happening. maybe not.

Seems like a file permission issue. You are not or have been running DCS with admin rights perhaps? Just a shot in the dark.

agree it does seem like permissions. All looks normal under security settings. 

it's strange how all guid values match and should just work (being same PC etc)

Anyway, got there in the end by keeping the old folder and dumping stuff into it
