Heliflyr Posted April 3 Posted April 3 (edited) This has been a problem for a long time and is not new. I just chose not to change speed or altitude when in the RIO seat to get around the problem. When the "Enable Afterburner Gate" is checked, Iceman (RIP Val Kilmer) can't go into afterburner and will stall the plane if asked to climb to a higher altitude or to maintain an orbit. Another thing I noticed is that if I command Iceman to climb to a "Set Angels Absolute" like 30,000ft, Iceman will fly 500ft below the target alt as indicated on the altimeter, but on the map view the altitude is correct. RustBelt Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Well for 2 are you certain the altimeter is set correctly? You requested Absolute which is not calibrated or pressure altitude. As to stalling on climbs without afterburner….yea you don’t need afterburner to climb at the recommended 0.7

Apart from setting the altimeter the Iceman should not have any other info than what is shown on the instrument. Apparently he is fed with the internal game object altitude which can be calculated differently than the one in module and shown in the cockpit, esp. when non-standard temperatures are involved. DCS object alt vs in-module (including ED) alt were reported a few times before. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

As to stalling on climbs without afterburner….yea you don’t need afterburner to climb at the recommended 0.7 I think you are confused about what I wrote about. It does not matter what the altimeter is set to, leveling off at an indicated 34,500ft is not 35,000ft. What should happen is Iceman should level off at 35,000ft as indicated on the instrument and the F10 map should show an altitude that is standard for all aircraft because they might have a different altimeter setting than I. When at a low alt and 250kts, if I command Iceman to climb to 35,000ft, it will try to climb at 30deg nose high without afterburner and stalls the plane. Again like I wrote, Iceman will not engage afterburner in a climb or even in level flight when the "Enable Afterburner Gate" box is checked. Since no one has reported this before, I'm guessing that I'm the only one with this problem.
RustBelt Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Honestly, Iceman climbing at 30° Nose up is a problem too. He should be climbing at M0.7, so something’s up.
Heliflyr Posted April 12 Author Posted April 12 Ok, I recorded 2 flights. The first flight is with the Afterburner Gate box checked and the second flight is with the AB Gate box unchecked. Starting form 1000ft and setting a climb to 35,000ft. Iceman will nose up at 25deg then go 30deg as the air speed drops on the first flight. But on the second flight, Iceman maintains 25deg through the climb. No voice.
