I like to get the best performance for my triple monitor setup and do not want to spend such crazy money for "best" fitting RTX 5090 with 32GB vram.
So hopefully someone can help me for deciding the best working GPU for this this is crazy resolution. I know that there will not be high FPS possible with both of them i but would be happy if it is at least somehow playable without stutters (if possible).
Vram is very needed for this high resolution but there will not be offered more in the near future and i need a GPU now because my old GTX 1080ti is finished.

What i don´t want is buying an old AMD rx 7900 xtx (24GB)  or used overpriced RTX 4090 (24GB). So please no recommendations.

ASROCK X79 Extreme11 (WC), i7-4930K (WC), 32GB G.Skill TridentX, Vertex 3 120GB, GTX 980ti, 3x 39,5" Philips 4K, TrackIR 5, TM Warthog with PeterP´s FFB2 Mod, 2xSaitek Throttle, 2x Thrustmaster Cougar MFD Bezel, Simped Vario Pedals modded with toe brakes, Opencockpit Cards, 4x Soundcard, 2x Buttkicker Gamer 2, 4x GTX 950 with tons of touchscreens...

That leaves JUST the 5080 as the 9070 isn't performing on the level those 2 you mention

Intel I5 13600k / AsRock Z790 Steel Legend / MSI  4080s 16G Gaming X Slim / Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64Gb / Adata 960 Max / HP Reverb G2 v2

That higher resolution (7680x1440) will push the VRAM of 16GB GPUs near the limit with some DCS modules and maps combined (the "heavy" ones), more so if in Multiplayer.
You can, of course, reduce the textures quality to "medium" (or terrain on "low" only) whenever necessary, which alleviates that problem.

Raw performance wise, I'd say any GPU that is close to 250% faster (or better) than your GTX1080Ti, will be a huge upgrade, good for triple 1440P.

Not sure it can help but, for sim-racing there are a few comparisons of AMD RX 7900XTX with Nvidia RTX 4080Super on triple screens.
That can, more or less, roughly translate to the AMD RX 9070XT and Nvidia RTX5070Ti, with comparable performance respectively.
The RTX 5080 is about 10% faster than these (at 4K and higher resolutions) but it's significantly more expensive right now (too much for what it is, IMO).

DCS is a performance hog, with a large hit on triple screens (and VR). There are sim-racing titles that get somewhat close, like Assetto Corsa Competizione (unlike the original Assetto Corsa, which is much lighter on resources) or even Automobilista2 and iRacing, which can be also demanding on triple 1440P.  So, GPU comparisons/benchmarks with such sim titles on triple screens may be worth looking into.

Triple 1440P (7680x1440= 11.059.200 total pixels rendered) is a lot more demanding than Triple 1080P (5760x1080= 6.220.800 total pixels rendered), so take that into account when noticing framerates for that resolution in such videos out there for these GPUs.

Thank you very much LucShep for this detailed explanation!👍
I have already seen this benchmarks and GPU comparisons in simracing too but i don´t believe that it is really comparable with DCS.
And i know that you can´t have enough vram for this huge resolutions and Nvidia´s prices are pretty ridiculous for this self-burning cards.
You are right that even the Rtx 5080 is heavy overpriced for what you get. Best would be a cheaper 5080 with 32GB but i don´t have the time to wait any longer for something probably never will happen. Hard times for GPU buyers which really need to upgrade...

With my super old GTX 1080ti i´m able to get Blackshark 3 running in singleplayer with about 15-18 FPS in 7680x1440 which is really great for this little vram but no really fun anymore. AH-64 is absolutely not playable. Only stuttering with about 1 FPS.

It would be great if someone with triple WQHD (or even more of course) could tell some framerates with RX 9070 XT or RTX 5080 GPUs to see how these cards really "perform" in DCS with only 16GB of vram.

Yep, that's a very demanding display (triple 1440P) for DCS.
It's a darn shame that both DLSS and FG only work on the main display in a multi monitor setup, or at least it was my experience helping someone a couple of years ago with triple screens. I don't have experience with AMD on triple screens, but I suppose it'll be the same thing for their equivalent FSR tech.
Perhaps FG (x2) works on triples with Lossless Scaling (see here) ?

I think you're in that position with a 1080Ti, where you'll be "damned if you do, damned if you don't", the upgrade will have to happen at some point, sooner rather than later.

I'd have a look to AMD, the RX 7900XT 20GB and 7900XTX 24GB are still found, some at discount in the usual places if you're in the USA (MicroCenter, Newegg, etc), probably a few of the new RX 9070XT 16GB as well.

Any of these three will be a tremendous upgrade over the good old GTX1080Ti and, worst case scenario, you can later sell them on 2nd hand market (or here in the forum?) if better oportunity later appears for an Nvidia higher end GPU. :dunno: But as it is, better forget Nvidia for the next few months...

This fake frames DLSS or FG i dont really like due to many issues at the moment. The only thing i could imagine, and will be helpful maybe, would be exact the other way if you could use it only for the outer two displays for making more FPS in whole. And in the middle you see all real pixels so you don´t miss anything really super important.

I have ordered now a MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G Shadow 3X OC (default board layout) at Amazon for 1169€ in Germany here but it will be first shipped at end of june and probably set it under water to get near the performance to a 4090. But lack of vram is still a problem then...
Nvidia is making me really angry with all of its "things" and i do really hope AMD will make some even nicer products in future to finally stop this.
If there will be a really price drop for RTX 5090 (what never will be in the next months) i´m looking for one in the meantime and cancel the RTX 5080 again but i am not really happy to give any money to Nvida in general...

Hey, nice one! 👍

Strange days we live in today, when people get to be congratulated for getting a GPU at MSRP or whereabouts! 😆

Agreed, it does make more sense for such tech to work the other way around, than currently, for triples.

That said, maybe makes sense to use DLSS in DCS. 😉  Even if negligible as it may sound in this case (working on 1/3 displayed pixels only), theoretically it should reduce VRAM usage and make it less computing intensive to render from the game.
