You can turn it off? I was only aware of high gain/low gain.... whereas low gain should be the default unless high gain is positively needed.

Yes ofc, a switch with a guard right underneath the high/low gain -switch. Makes landing so much better.

And in CE, the guarded switch is right next to it on the right.

In fact IRL the brake chute was almost never used. I worked for 10 month on the BA132 Colmar-Meyenheim, in the RC 2/30 Normandie-Niémen, and saw only one time a pilot using the brake chute.

Well, I could imagine it depends a little on available runway length. When you don’t NEED that much braking action, it certainly less headache to leave it alone.
