M08 HAD and Calls

Having selected Threat Class 2, and being locked by an SA-6 and shot at, i still can't seem to find it either on the HTS or the HAD ? they are both on detecting other threats, just not one i am after, is this just me or... ?

Your ECM can block the hts when it's active IIRC.

even with ECM off BUG calls out the SA6 a good 30 seconds before it appears on my HAD...

It can be a pain, it's whatever internal logic the HTS is coded to do in DCS.  Sometimes I see stuff appear straight away, sometimes it takes a bit of time.  Bug must have a REALLY good version of the pod though .  But on a serious note, if you're ECM is off then all you can do really is make sure you are giving the pod plenty to work with, I try and turn a fair bit to make sure the pod gets a good look at the emitter, and hopefully help with triangulation by creating new angels.
