hello experts,

I have updated my DCS to current version after not playing for a while, wanted to go on with the Persion Lion II campaign. On HW side I am running VKB stick + Warthog Throttle. I load up a campaign mission and for a while all is good, then the game starts randomly freezing and crashes to windows in the end (all in all maybe 15 minutes).

I found a similar topic, but with different HW setup. It seems it describes the issue as well. Sadly no solution for my case in there.

any advice please? would be much appreciated.

cheers!

hello

i dropped your log into discord analyzer

Advice

Disable Core Parking.
Verify that this is configured correctly in Windows:
Game Mode disabled
Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling disabled
Core Isolation disabled

Tuning Tips

Disable civil traffic.
Turn off SSLR.
Turn off SSAO.
Disable Tacview for performance reasons.
Consider using DLAA.
Tuning tips are recommendations for better FPS based on your CPU, GPU and RAM. They might result in slightly decreased display quality.

Not sure if something has changed with the DCS log analyzer but the log states that core parking is enabled but this wasn't flagged by the analyzer. Process Lasso was not mentioned in the logs so at this stage I'm assuming that this is the default that Windows 11 is setting now.

2025-04-27 09:05:55.394 WARNING EDCORE (Main): CPU HAS PARKED LOGICAL CORES (this can be source of stuttering and reduced performance especially on hybrid CPUs with P/E-cores)

You're already on Windows 11 so can you use something like ParkControl (https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/) to disable core parking. This has resolved this issue for a number of users experiencing these issues on the latest patches.

In addition to this I see that TrackIR is being reported:

INPUT (Main): created [TrackIR]

Can you confirm whether or not you do have TrackIR, or any other head tracking, in use. Can you also confirm that DCS is not being run as administrator, right-click on your DCS shortcut that you use, choose properties, and verify that "Run as administrator" is not checked under the Compatibility tab of that menu.

EDIT: looks like the log analyzer is flagging core parking again now, I ran your log back through it to confirm, so ignore the first part of my comment re: it not showing up in the log analyzer.

hi,

so, yes I am using TrackIR, but have been using this for a while now with no prior issues.

I checked and I am not running DCS as administrator.

Should I do something about the core parking topic? This is new to me, has there been change in recent updates of DCS on  how the CPU is utilized? I run the pc on high performance power option, had this changed a while ago to avoid micro stutters.

thanks!

Yes, I would make the core parking changes. As to recent changes, Windows 11 has better support for hybrid P/E cores and will identify which is which. Based on other forum threads and Discord channel comments DCS now makes better decisions around which to use for what. For example, allocating I/O to E cores so that those operations aren't being performed on your Performance (P) cores.

Note: This may not solve your issue, but will be in a good state and filter this out going forward for any other logs or ongoing investigation.

Mine crashed for the first time ever in 5 years.  In VR, Flying the F16 in Iraq.  Made my own mission to take out 4 Mig29's.  The second I locked on, bam.. Froze and crashed.

After the last update, the game keeps crashing my whole PC. It's unacceptable for the game to do this. It Seems the anti freeze system is broken.

You should start by removing your mods.  There are a whole bunch of errors in your log long before it ever gets to the the anti-freeze.

No mods, no nothing. I installed the steam version to try fix it. Keep freezing several times when i switch to desktop using ALT + tab to manage others things like web browsers or windows explorer, in 2d mode and flying...It looks some problem with the backend process, something like this. As you can see in the log, some problems with DX11 backend.

I really want to use the modules I bought, i 'm counting on your help.

I don't see the antifreeze issue in that log. The DX11BACKEND errors in the logs may be a redherring, I get these in my logs as well and are common to other users.

About the web browsers etc. trying turning off Hardware Accelerated Graphics (HAGS) on your PC if you haven't already.

Installing the Steam version won't change anything, the Standalone and Steam versions are identical.

I have already turn off all these windows features and exclude the folder and process in windows defender.

From the first log it is showing a bunch of errors like this:

Source c:/users/felipe/saved games/dcs.openbeta/mods/tech/static_objects/liveries/guardtower_flag/rus_summer is already mounted to the same mount /textures//liveries/guardtower_flag/RUS_summer.

Which suggested mods, but actually looks like it was pulling things from 2 places or you had somehow gotten parts of the normal built inserted into your Saved Games/Mods folder.
