Bog9y Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Hi Ugra, thanks for this fantastic map and I'm looking forward to the expansion. Whilst playing I noticed that the terrain east of Spandahlem seems to be too high, it makes a standard ILS glideslope profile too close to the terrain. Upon further investigation I noticed that the elevation actually isn't quite correct. I think in DCS it's around 970 ft but it should be 1128 ft at the 05 threshold and 1197 ft at the 23 threshold. See here: https://skyvector.com/airport/ETAD/Spangdahlem-Airport From what I've seen on videos and pictures Spang seems to be on a plateau with 2 valleys (east and west) whereas in DCS it seems to be in a valley with high Terrain around it. If you go in MSFS2020 or 2024 you can see what I mean. 1
grim_reaper68 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Just checked in Google Earth, and in fact, you're right, the whole terrain around the airbase is too low. It should be at an average altitude of 1150ft. Meanwhile, the elevation of the terrain at the East is correct. It's just that the airbase is too low. When you look at Google Earth, and follow the terrain at the end of rwy 05, up to the road, the highest altitude will be 1280ft, which is accurate to DCS. 3
Lt. Scribbles Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Hi, At Spangdahlem i had a 2 ship F-16 land in formation on runway 23. And looks like they dont see the hill in front of them so they clip through the trees and one of them crashed. Also on any airfield on this map, the AI doesnt care about the wind direction and always take off and land from the same side... And airfields with more than one runway, they always only use one and the same runway. like the other one does not exist. grim_reaper68 Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Could you eventually list them? I saw that Buckeburg has this problem, for landing as despite the wind direction, ATC always tells you to land on runway 26. I will make a global feedback ASAP to a dev member. Spangdahlem altitude problem has always reported. Here:
