I was thinking it could be a good adition to have assets covering this aspect, for some scenarios with asymmetric wars.
We have a few but i was thinking this could be the perfect oportunity to have some new ones, and/or have some of the older ones receive a facelift.

Could be to name a few:
- Motorbikes with armed insurgents
- IEDs related: infantry hiding/planting one, Barrels and stuff use to made those, etc.
- Improvised technicals (that encompasses many options, i know)
- Infantry: AKs, RPGs, Recoilless rifle, etc
- Encampments Assets
- Cave entrances
- etc

Maybe even adding to the mix some civilian assets, that are in some cases similar to this ones.
That way it could be hard to discern those from the armed ones, creating more variety and option to create scenarios of COIN in DCS.

Totally agree. Almost pointless to have an Afghanistan map without a broader variety of insurgent units. Badly needed.

ED is working on new infantry models. With much better animations. Including new insurgency infantry.

I don't think we'll see any new infantry models until that job is done

After that hopefully official and unofficial infantry models can use the new animations.

i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 3090, 64Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.

Of all the examples i gave only two of them are infantry on foot 😉

There is a lot of room for CurrentHill to add assets to what ED is planning.
In fact, now that they are working together i bet is an excellent moment for him to help them on that task.

I agree with your list. I know it sounds silly, but having watched quite a bit of TPOD and TADS footage from Operation Enduring Freedom, some mandatory counter-insurgency focused assets include:

- Toyota light pickup trucks with guns mounted on them.

- Cheap vans with stuff hidden inside them.

- Goats, dogs, and chickens.

- All varieties of mopeds and motorcycles.

- Cave entrances for sure. A fair amount of heavy ordnance was expended blowing up caves.

- IEDs & buried explosives for sure. A tremendous amount of aviation assets were focused on convoy escorts, with an emphasis on finding IEDs and buried explosives before the convoy stumbles onto them.

Just some thoughts.

Honestly, some civilian stuff for vehicles, infantry, and aviation assets. Pretty much every time I see a foot-mobile, it's almost assured just by existing that they're a bad guy. Having neutral plain-clothed, unarmed personnel to complicate the battlespace, plus having actual regular unarmed vehicles that aren't some sort of military vehicle or 5 ton truck (other than the bus), would be nice, too.

More would be better.

Goats & chickens + 1

various civilian everythings - desperately needed.

As has been said - currently everything on legs that moves is military.

You can set objects to be from the neutral side, but from a pod or weapons' sight they'll still look like soldiers.

Motorbikes are probably tricky - cars, trucks etc don't have to lean in the corners. I guess they'd need a whole new physics model.

Cave / tunnel entrances is a good idea, as is a bit of disturbed earth to drop by a road to indicate that someone's been digging there.

The explosives can be just triggered, but you need something to find them by. (I thought I remembered there being mines you could place already in the game?)

For the others, an explosion on unit for any of the existing vehicles gets you fertiliser bombs etc...
