Add Template

I am unable to place a SAM template down on any map.  I'm using Edit->Add Template.  It doesn't matter which country (USA/Russia), no templates get added when I left click the map.  In fact, when I left click, the Add Template menu disappears.  Tried multiple maps (including Caucusus) and still not working.

I did a full (slow) DCS repair and still can't place a template on the map.  Turned of historical unit icon, still nothing.  Let DCS recreate the MissionEditor folder in Save Games, but to no avail.

Has anyone encountered this?

 

PS:  All Mods disabled, and Static Templates work on Caucasus

Yep, same thing here. Did a full slow repair, but still can't place them. I can try to get dcs.log tonight, unsure what else is needed for debugging.

Btw, it could be useful to merge these two topics as they are about the same thing.

Just had this problem yesterday.  Had to use the static "Create and modify templates" icon on left side vs. the top menu drop-down.  I'll post a couple images when I get to the PC.

Okay, so I just replicated this.

1 - Start a New Mission in ME for Syria Map
2 - Zoom into Aleppo Airport in the North
3 - Select Edit|Add Template from the drop-down menu

  
4 - Select Russian SA-2 Template on Template selection at right

5 - Left click on map for template placement -- nothing happens 
6 - Select Create and Modify Templates icon on left 

7 - Select Russian SA-2 Template on Template selection at right
8 - Left click on map for template placement -- template placed at mouse position

See if that works for you, @wraith70

I've always started with step 6 that still works fine. Drop down from the 'edit' menu isn't working it seems.

Thanks @Mistermann for the tip, can confirm as well that adding the template from the sidebar works. So now we have a workaround and a very good hint what the devs should check out to see why it's broken when selected from the dropdown menu in "edit" section.

Been doing missions for a while now, didn't even know that this was also available in the sidebar

Thanks @Mistermann it works.  I too never realized the icon on the left.  Odd that the drop down and icon bring up the same template list, but only one works

Ironically, I only knew about the sidebar option and didn’t know about the edit/ drop-down
