Ok there are many posts on the subject but none of them seem to offer a definitive answer and many are confusing, also many are very old, as old as dcs 1.5. i dont want to go necro posting so ill ask here

Im setting up my new server and i want to make sure that im dialing all my settings in

So how do i set the following

net.download_speed = 1024*1024*256

net.upload_speed =

1024*1024*256

I want to understand these numbers

Is there a formula to figure it out?

What does each number represent?

How do i increase these numbers for better performance?

I currently have a 1gbps down 500mbps up connection that will soon be 2.5gbps semetrical, all over fiber, so i would like to make sure im getting the most from the server and connection

Im hoping for a nice simple answer that i can understand and hopefully others can to

Be aware using that kind of tuning, it was there since ages, and most probably nowday is not even necessary.
Use formula is completely useless, in the end it's the speed in bps if I remember well.
So basically 1024*1024*256 you're telling something like 270mbps
You can directly type 268435456 in the file, but yeah, honestly I'm not using it anymore on all my servers

Not trying to be pedantic,while you might wanna use Mega and not milli if you want the math to be correct. 😉

Cheers!
