PSYKOnz Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Ok there are many posts on the subject but none of them seem to offer a definitive answer and many are confusing, also many are very old, as old as dcs 1.5. i dont want to go necro posting so ill ask here Im setting up my new server and i want to make sure that im dialing all my settings in So how do i set the following net.download_speed = 1024*1024*256 net.upload_speed = 1024*1024*256 I want to understand these numbers Is there a formula to figure it out? What does each number represent? How do i increase these numbers for better performance? I currently have a 1gbps down 500mbps up connection that will soon be 2.5gbps semetrical, all over fiber, so i would like to make sure im getting the most from the server and connection Im hoping for a nice simple answer that i can understand and hopefully others can to Tomcat, Tomcat über allen
Maverick87Shaka Posted Sunday at 09:29 AM Posted Sunday at 09:29 AM Be aware using that kind of tuning, it was there since ages, and most probably nowday is not even necessary. Use formula is completely useless, in the end it's the speed in bps if I remember well. So basically 1024*1024*256 you're telling something like 270mbps You can directly type 268435456 in the file, but yeah, honestly I'm not using it anymore on all my servers 1 FlighRIG => CPU: RyZen 5900x | RAM: 64GB Corsair 3000Mhz | GPU: nVIDIA RTX 4090 FE | OS Storage: SSD NVMe Samsung 850 Pro 512GB, DCS Storage: SSD NVMe Sabrent 1TB | Device: Multipurpose-UFC, VirPil T-50, TM WARTHOG Throttle, TrackHat, MFD Cougar with screen. PSYKOnz Posted Sunday at 09:24 PM Author Posted Sunday at 09:24 PM Because i am the dumb Its 1024x1024x256 = 268,453,456 rounded = 270 megabits ps? So it will use upto 270 of upload megabits Is there any real reason to change it? Or is this just a hold over from the past? What would doubbling the numbers give you? What numbers should you change if you want to adjust the numbers? Just the last one or the whole thing? Tomcat, Tomcat über allen

This one to me I was usual to have it set in the past, like 3 or 4 years ago (not as formula just plain nuber), but we haven't used it for at least two years. This is the current production server that I'm running (adjust port on your needs) if not net then net = {} end net.use_upnp = false webgui_port = 8088 norender_fps = 60 disable_write_track = true some days ago we ware more than 20 players on a pretty populated PvE missions in one of our instance (with some other running as well), no issue at all.
