KidBomba Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Hello guys! I'm new to this game and I am very excited about DCS BS! :pilotfly: I am in no way a pilot, and flying the helicopter has already proven to be an exciting challenge. I mean, just the start up procedure is so complex and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Do you guys know of any good 3rd party or 1st party manual explaining in details the reasoning behind the start up sequence for the Helicopter as well as the 1000 other things you do with that chopper? On the other hand, due to the complexity of the simulator, there are times where I will screw up so bad that I would like to restart the mission or game. I find myself quitting the mission and restarting it. Is there a shortkey or hotkey to restart a mission without having to quit? :book: Many thanks :)
Huckle Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Having you enable the RCVR option already in game menu? Generates a new armed helicopter, but the mission will continue from where you crashed/ejected. As for startup, once you go through it a couple of times, it makes sense. But if you've just started playing, I'd be using autostart (Win + Home) at least until you can fly and fight. There's a great tutorial here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2626185/STICKY_Tutorial_How_to_take_of.html#Post2626185
EinsteinEP Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 KidBomba, On the DCS website, under Files, there are a number of fantastic videos about the startup process. There's also a detailed checklist somewhere in this forum (check the search function!). As for the restart, I don't know of any shortcut key to restart, just esc, Quit, Refly. As Huckle points out, there is a RCVR (short for Recover) option you can enable to start from where you left off, though. Also, in the link Huckle gave there's a great tutorial mission that you can fly over and over to learn the basics. It's an excellent training tool, can't recommend it enough! Shoot to Kill. Play to Have Fun.
JG14_Smil Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 enabling RCVR as stated earlier saves you huge amounts of time when learning to fly the KA-50.
FOXFIRE TWOONE Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Can someone explain where the ( RCVR ) option is, or post a screenie as to where it is, because I do not see it anywhere in game options or any other place. :helpsmilie: Thanks Intel core I9 10900K 3.7 ghz Asrock Z490 Extreme4 G-SKill Ripjaws V 32GB Cooler Master 120m GTX 980 Superclocked Corsair AX850w psu Samsung 1 T M.2 2 X 850 ssd's Sony 48 in HD TV Trackir 5 Hotas Warthog F/A-18C Hornet Grip Logitech Pro Peddles Windows 10 64
