PLAAF Posted June 12 Posted June 12 May I assume it will have the same RWR as F-4E or worse, since it is a much older jet? 2 My Adorable Communist Errand Girls Led by me, the Communist Errand Panda
TLTeo Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I'm a bit fuzzy on the details because iirc it depends on exact model/era/operator, but my understanding is it'll be either something barebones (think what we have in the A-4 with just an aural warning) or none at all. Afaik the only jets to receive directional RWR similar to the F-4 were the Canadian CF-104s (which were then passed down to a bunch of other operators), as well as the F-104Cs that flew in the later Vietnam deployments. 2
algherghezghez Posted June 12 Posted June 12 If I’m not mistaken we should get an aural tone with a locked light, or nothing at all like TLTeo said 2
VFXBLENDER Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I think it will be just a older version of the RWR. The F-104 was made 2 years before the Phantom. 2
TLTeo Posted June 12 Posted June 12 (edited) The Phantom didn't have a RWR for a while either, we have a relatively late variant. Again, there are only a couple variants of the 104 with a comparable RWR to the Phantom, and you can easily tell them apart from the antennas in the nose and near the engine nozzle: Edited June 14 by TLTeo 5

If a Vietnam-era F-104C is modeled, it should have the same APR-25 as Grinnelli's F-100D is supposedly going to have. And an F-104C should definitely be modeled, as well as the F-104G. Those two could maybe be released as separate modules. Then afterwards, maybe add an F-104S ASA as a separate module. The F-104C was used in the Vietnam War. It had an inflight refueling probe. Only 77 were built. The F-104G was most widely used and in the greatest numbers, 1,127. Operated by Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Italy, Canada, Greece, Spain(?) and Taiwan. The F-104S ASA had 147 upgraded from F-104S and was operated by Italy.
