Rhrich Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I’ve been trying my hand at bombing. First practice bombs, but then the real stuff. When I switched I was surprised how much the accuracy decreased from practice to live. As I didn’t seem to kill anything. However after using the F-keys to follow the bombs down I see that they do indeed hit or land very close, but it seems that almost only a direct hit will result in a kill. I’ve seen the result of the bombs in reality countless times, and there’s not a chance a soft skinned truck would survive a close miss. Am I doing something wrong in the setup? Or could it be lag causing the bomb damage to not go around the animated impact of the bomb?
RustBelt Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Yes this is a core issue with DCS that’s on the Eagle Dynamics side. how they model frag and concussive effect, and how they manage target damage are strongly at odds with each other. Bombs have to be treated like kinetic impactors as long as the rudimentary ground target health bar system is in place.
draconus Posted July 1 Posted July 1 As always in DCS - upload a track or it didn't happen. We don't know what bomb, fuse, how set, how close, what unit and it all matters. Are you updated? Because ED have just updated Mk8x series warheads and that includes GBUs and a few more derivatives. Some report it as being even too powerful now. Proper forum for reporting this is here: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/540-weapon-bugs/ There you will also find the thread about updated bomb damage. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
