Butrus Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Hi i am interested in finding the GAME engine limitations. Since this is not a real plane& engine and we don’t have to bother about engine hours and overhauls From limited testing and playing around i noted the following: There is no limit to running the engine at military power as long as the temps don't cross the red line for too long. running the engine at “low” rpm vs MP can destroy it without warning, the ratio is somewhat obscured but on the other hand there is no limitation on running rpm at 3000 for the entire flight with the only drawback of fuel economy WEP - i am unsure if there is a hard limitation on running the engine in WEP. I did broke the engine while running it in wep but i am not sure if it was because of temps or something else. Any insights will be appreciated Also i have 2 questions that I couldn’t find the answers for: Is there some sort of engine degradation modeled in the game, and if so what causes it? is FOD modeled in the game? Or more practically can i damage my engine during taxi and takeoff if i use ram air? would like to know if anyone have some insights or more information on the subject thanks
razo+r Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago There apparently is spark plug fouling modeled so you have to clear the plugs in a regular interval when running in eco settings. Hot temperature also degrade the engine as well as too cold oil, at least at start. No, FOD is not modelled, so you can use RAM air at any given time without fear of damaging the engine. 1
Mr_sukebe Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago There must be some kind of degradation model if it’s possible to overheat with prolonged usage at WEP. If you weren’t already aware, there is a random failures option that can be enabled within ME. Additionally, you can set a plane wear level. One thought is that the game will by default assume that at the start of any mission, you’ll have a brand new engine in tip top condition. 1 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat

Is there anyway to notice or meter the degradation? I don't have much experience in the game but i have'nt noticed something like that unless i took hits to the aircraft and engine

The other stuff, you cannot really meter/monitor the degradation besides the sound the engine makes. If you hear strange noises, like banging, perhaps chugging or other strange noises, chances are that it's too late and the degradation is already quite advanced. The only thing you can activly do however is to prevent degradation in the first place by always staying within the limits and clear the plugs from time to time.
