GeoS72 Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Would it be possible to add support for animated PNG or GIF files during game play? It could be used for a variety of things - news flash, intel update, or a meme. It would be added thru the Mission Editor. Good idea or bad idea? 2
GeoS72 Posted September 2 Author Posted September 2 Either my idea sucks the south end of a northbound horse or it needs more visibility. What does the community say? 1

What does the community say? I support this I understand what you want, and it would be very cool. Brings back fond memories from the past in other games. Do you have the Huey? If you do, try the user mission "I love this job". There he does something similar, but I'm no ME wizard, so I don't know how. Cheers!
sirrah Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago While waiting for gif support, you can easily create simple gif's already (admittedly very crude and time consuming) System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH
GeoS72 Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago @sirrah, I found a similar solution. I made my own animated image by using several PNG frames from a video. I used about 100 frames. Set each frame to start 0.1 sec (60 frames/sec) and presto. This facility is crude but adequate... It works but it bloats the MIZ file. I believe an animated GIF or PNG file would be a more civilized approach.
Czar Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago That is a great idea! Endless possibilities for training missions especially the ones that involves maneuvers for bombing which is a bit difficult to grasp from just words.

Aye, I indeed forgot to mention the impact on mission file size Anyhow, I support your wish System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH
