unicorndog Posted yesterday at 05:35 PM Posted yesterday at 05:35 PM I'm fine using trim in every other DCS 'copter I have - Huey, AH-64D and MI-8 but I cannot seem to trim the Chinook for level flight above 140 knots or so or around >50% throttle. When I'm less than 140, I use the CD REL around the attitude I want and then adjust with trim hat, everything's great. Above 140, I do the same and the aircraft pitches hard in the direction I am trimming - if I'm trimming down, it does a nose dive; trimming up it goes nose high. It will stay in trim at a climb rate of ~1k, this gets worse the more power is added. If I just use my joystick, I can find a position at that speed where I am level with out many micro adjustments, but as soon as I hit CD REL, it pitches. I've about tried everything at this point: instant vs center trim, holding and releasing vs pressing trim when in position, various combination of trim hat and CD REL etc. EA bug or am I not understanding something about the 'copter/flight computer? Thanks for any assistance
Tholozor Posted yesterday at 06:45 PM Posted yesterday at 06:45 PM Check the position of the Longitudinal Cyclic Trim indicator on the INST page for the rotors. Once it's maxed out, the flight control system has no more authority in that direction. unicorndog Posted yesterday at 07:10 PM Author Posted yesterday at 07:10 PM (edited) It definitely happens once the LCT is maxed. I have only vague understanding, mostly from watching that video several times, that the it tilts the rotor heads so you don't have to have such a tilted attitude. Obviously, once its fully extended, it can't support more speed, but I'm not clear on why this should max out the force trim that every other DCS helo (with no LCT) has preventing it from maintaining altitude with a more nose down attitude.
