JG14_Smil Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Hello, I tried a search and got tired of looking with no luck. Should the collective brake be programmed as a keyhit (on) and keyhit (off), or should it be used in a hold function keypress as long as the brake is disengaged?
JG14_Smil Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 after looking about in the cockpit, I am assuming it is used in a hold function... thanks anyways. :)
Triggerhappy69 Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I prorgammed it as a HIT-RELEASE at first, but now it's programmed as a DrirectX input (hold function). Haven't noticed much difference though? "But (504)Brewber said they were'nt friendly.. So I took'em out.!" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Shaman Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 IRL you are not able to even move collective lever in Ka-50 as long the collective brake is not being held, right? In other words, you must grab and hold the collective brake to move the collective? 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
AlphaOneSix Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 IRL you are not able to even move collective lever in Ka-50 as long the collective brake is not being held, right? In other words, you must grab and hold the collective brake to move the collective? You can move it, but it is normally set to require quite a bit of force. The purpose is to prevent the collective from moving on its own or if you bump it on accident (helicopters are routinely flown with one hand off of the collective so you can use the other hand to do other things, like hit switches, set radios, eat potato chips, etc.). In practice, you would never move the collective without depressing the brake, but it *is* possible.
