=SCoRPioN= Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 (edited) Thanks for that tip but I've as of yet seen none of the claimed fps kill you speak of? If you dont see the kill, install 182.x or 185.x and you will see the gain instead. Maybe it only does it on some cards, like top notch ones, like GTX. Yours is just an older card, and your system is probably limited by it. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=44336&page=6 Edited August 28, 2009 by [SCoRPioN] My first computer and my ED collection: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I won FC1 in the original Lock On Tournament in 2005: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=8805

When BS was just a little baby I did a whole lot over overclocking comparisons where I OCd both graphics, memory and CPU and my finding was that the only thing bottlenecking my computer in BS was the CPU. With it currently at almost 35% overclock I'm very satisfied with my performance. Usually around 30-60 FPS. I'll probably move on to Win7 this weekend so we'll see what happends then. Boulund Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 Hi everyone again I've just moved on to Windows 7 Professional and while still on the latest nVidia driver I'm still seeing the blurry textures. Just thought I'd give everyone the heads up that it is most probably driver related now, not OS, memory (added 2GB of RAM today), gpu, cpu, heat (cooler at home in my apartment than where I worked this summer). It is most probably just that the latest nVidia driver is giving me these issues. Thanks for everyone's kind attention and help. =) Core i5-760 @ 3.6Ghz, 4GB DDR3, Geforce GTX470, Samsung SATA HDD, Dell UH2311H 1920x1080, Saitek X52 Pro., FreeTrack homemade cap w/ LifeCam VX-1000, Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1. dragony Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Judging from your signature, you have 8800 videocard. It's said that latest drivers are the best for latest videocards, like 200 series. You should try 18*.** versions of drivers. WBR, =FV=BlackDragon. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Maybe my attitude towards downgrading to an earlier driver has not. I'm not interested in downgrading. The whole point of this thread was just to find out if there was a solution involving some misconfigured settings or the like. I think we can with great confidence state that it is because of the drivers. =D Peace out Thanks again all. Update: Hmm... I figured wth and went on with a downgrade just to see if it really was because of the drivers. Testing the 185.85, 185.81, 168.18 and the latest 190.62 I see no difference at all concerning this issue with blurring of cockpit textures. I should also not that this testing was carried out on a completely new install on a clean OS (installed yesterday). I think I'll learn to live with it instead of trying to fix it. Maybe it'll fix itself sometime in the future. ZaltysZ Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I haven't seen any difference between 18x and 19x drivers in DCS, however in IL2 (OpenGL) the performance is noticeably worse with 19x. Additionally, 19x has messed up profile support and so, custom profiles are not always applied to games; global profile works well always. P.S. Windows7 x64, 8800GTS 640MB Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
EinsteinEP Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Boulund, Just so you know you're not crazy, I experienced the same thing - blurry cockpit textures, to the point where switch/button labels were unreadable, even when I zoomed in. Although I do have 8800 GT cards and I "downgraded" display drivers (170.something), I originally saw the problem with the "old" drivers and solved it by twiddling with BS display settings - did not touch nVidia control panel during the process. All's good. You say all your display settings are all high, and I seem to recall that chaning the Textures setting to High and cockpit to 1024 (always) was what fixed it for me, but I'll check my settings again and post for you. I'm using a default install of BS with 1.0.1 and zero mods - no ModMan, no DCSMax, etc. - on a WinXP platform with two 8800 GT cards. Enabling/disabling SLI did not appear to make a difference with the blurring problem. Shoot to Kill. Play to Have Fun.
Boulund Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 (edited) Textures setting to High and cockpit to 1024 (always) was what fixed it for me, but I'll check my settings again and post for you I'm confused because I always thought that the setting your refer to as "cockpit" (actually Resolution of cockpit displays) only refers to the resolution of the ABRIS and Shkval. In any case no combination of any graphics setting (including res. of cockpit displays) has yet produced crisp textures for my button text labels or the master arm panel (or whatever it's called =)). Obviously I haven't done an exhaustive test of the 6480 different combinations of settings that could possibly influence this, but at least I've tried the 15 combinations I think should make a difference. It may seem blurry depending on resolution, monitor and how much zoom you have. Please provide the screenshots like the ones attached.
