Hello,

Thanks for finally giving us an ED module with a working visor, but the current implementation is basically useless in VR as it makes me nauseous - VERY nauseous. There are reflections that are massively overdone and can't be turned off - they are not tied to canopy reflections. Even more so, in situations where there are no canopy reflections (I have the canopy slider set at 1.0), the visor still has those massive reflections.

I don't have any first hand experience with pilot helmets from the '80s, but I have never had a visor on any of my motorcycle helmets that had ANY reflections, let alone such overdone ones. So I doubt real aviation helmet visors have such reflections.

I hope this can be fixed...

It actually looks quite strange, and I'd rather treat it as a bug and a problem. Such reflections would be possible, but only if the visor was far away from your eyes, but this one is quite close, and the reflections aren't that noticeable even with tinted sunglasses. Someone's imagination got carried away here 😉, though the idea isn't bad.

I'd suggest keeping this effect, as it's interesting, but I also reduced the reflection almost as much as possible, making it only slightly visible. It does create a 3D effect, and I think the idea is even better than flat effect in the F-15E or OH-58D, but these reflections discourage the use of the visor.

Has the performer ever worn sunglasses ;)? This screenshot is interesting:

Me too, hence me posting it in the Bugs and Problems subforum. ED saw fit to move it to Wishlist for some reason or another 🤷‍♀️

On aircraft helmets, or in general? I’ve ridden quite a few different types of motorcycles in all weather with every type of helmet imaginable and I have *never* had such reflections on my visor.

A visor is there to *improve* visibility, not make it worse…

Of course. I'm more interested in the fact that with a large cover, light can actually penetrate, creating some reflections, but they're barely visible. Here, however, they're distracting; you can't even see the cockpit instruments at certain angles. That would be downright dangerous. But I like that it creates a 3D effect.

5-10% of what we have in terms of reflections, and I think it'll be fine.

I really love the extra effects and concept of feeling the real visor being enabled.

But at same time I agree in VR it seems a bit overdone. At certain angles it’s hard to see your instruments. Tune the reflection effects a bit down and it’s perfect.

Love the new approach on improving and hope it’s gonna implemented for all other aircraft and helicopters.

Found this post trying to report the same issue, I agree with average_pilot, it seems like the visor is rendered with light and reflections coming from sides and behind, where helmet and your head is, and light should not come from that directions. I mean, like if it is rendered as a floating object not taking into account your head and helmet.

It is inmmersive and usable, but in fact it does less good than bad about vision quality

I've also used a lot of tinted visors on motorcycles, and yes the effect is overdone. That being said, you do, in certain conditions get *some* reflections on the inside of your visor. In real life, due to focusing ability at different distances (which cannot be done in VR), it is also not as distracting.

I do like the 'real object in real lighting conditions' idea, but it'll have to be toned down (as another poster said, it's as if light is coming in from above and behind, which would not be the case), as well as some kind of simulation of focal effect to make it less 'in your face'.

I've got the canopy reflections on 0 and still get way too much reflection on the visor in VR. Is there another reflections option somewhere?

No, there isn’t. This is on ED to fix. In the meantime you can use this mod:
