Hi everybody. Has anybody else experienced crashes in mission 2? I've played it like 5 or 6 times and have not been able to finish it yet. It always crashes quite into the mission, shortly after the AP training and after turning towards WP3. It may be just my computer, which does funny things in DCS and crashes it rather often, but I just had a long play in the apache with no issues.

I don't have the log at the moment, but I'll try the mission one more time and upload the track and the error logs.

Your dcs.log would indeed be great! If you find a valid track file in Saved Games\DCS\Tracks\LastMissionTrack.trk, that might also help (if it's too big for the forum, you could use Google Drive/OneDrive etc and just post the link to the uploaded file here).

Do you run any mods in your DCS? TacView, SRS and a few other super common mods should be fine, but flyable modules, texture and sound mods have caused all sorts of problems in the past and in very unexpected areas. If you have any mods or leftovers, removing them might be worth a try, along a DCS Repair from the launcher.

If you can remove the mods and replicate the crash without them, that would be excellent (or bad, you know what I mean 😉).

I think I may have found the culprit. I still need to test it, but I believe it could be a cheap USB cable that I used for the Throttle unit. Looks like it was disconnecting and causing issues with the hot plug. Again, this is just a guess, but I've bought a better quality one that arrives today and I'll test the mission again with it.

This time I got the farthest ever. It still sucks to report that my game crashed 2NM out of touchdown. Pretty sure it has nothing to do with the mission though, my game crashes more frequently than usual.

In addition to what AdrianL just said, there's a pretty awesome log file analyzer on ED's Discord that'll give some fairly specific feedback; you can find it here:

https://discord.gg/PSGpNvBM3Z

With your log file it reads:

Quote

Errors

Hot plug Events
Disable hot plug in your CONTROLS section.

There is a GPU-related error
(Re-)install the latest GPU drivers. Don't overclock your GPU or RAM.

Your DCS has crashed
The crash occurred inside GraphicsCore.dll.

PLEASE REMOVE ANY CUSTOM MODS FIRST AND CHECK, IF THE ISSUE PERSISTS!

If that does not help:

  • Try a !repair.
  • Delete Saved Games\DCS\fxo and metashaders2 and try again.
  • Next, delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\TEMP\DCS and try again.
  • Next, try renaming Saved Games\DCS to DCS.old and try again.

And then it also gives the following advice:

Advice

  • Please use the bin\DCS.exe instead of the bin-mt\DCS.exe.
  • If you have stability or performance issues pointing to your GPU, rollback the GPU driver to version 566.36
  • Verify that this is configured correctly in Windows:
    • Game Mode disabled
    • Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling disabled

And while mods shouldn't cause GFX crashes, it can not be overstated that you should really remove them before continuing; SRS should be fine, but just to be on the safe side, the Blackhawk and Herc mods should go until you can be sure they have nothing to do with these issues.
