SrSosio Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Hi everybody. Has anybody else experienced crashes in mission 2? I've played it like 5 or 6 times and have not been able to finish it yet. It always crashes quite into the mission, shortly after the AP training and after turning towards WP3. It may be just my computer, which does funny things in DCS and crashes it rather often, but I just had a long play in the apache with no issues. I don't have the log at the moment, but I'll try the mission one more time and upload the track and the error logs. 1
Yurgon Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Your dcs.log would indeed be great! If you find a valid track file in Saved Games\DCS\Tracks\LastMissionTrack.trk, that might also help (if it's too big for the forum, you could use Google Drive/OneDrive etc and just post the link to the uploaded file here). Do you run any mods in your DCS? TacView, SRS and a few other super common mods should be fine, but flyable modules, texture and sound mods have caused all sorts of problems in the past and in very unexpected areas. If you have any mods or leftovers, removing them might be worth a try, along a DCS Repair from the launcher.
SrSosio Posted September 26 Author Posted September 26 Just the herc and the blackhawk, and twitch2dcs, nothing too fancy
Yurgon Posted September 26 Posted September 26 If you can remove the mods and replicate the crash without them, that would be excellent (or bad, you know what I mean ). 1
SrSosio Posted Wednesday at 07:29 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 07:29 AM I think I may have found the culprit. I still need to test it, but I believe it could be a cheap USB cable that I used for the Throttle unit. Looks like it was disconnecting and causing issues with the hot plug. Again, this is just a guess, but I've bought a better quality one that arrives today and I'll test the mission again with it. 1
SrSosio Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago I really thought I had it, and I still think I can do it. This time I got the farthest ever. It still sucks to report that my game crashed 2NM out of touchdown. Pretty sure it has nothing to do with the mission though, my game crashes more frequently than usual. PFA the log, and here's the track in my drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VnhWzoHX0G7ti28k4FIZnhpvDPDJ6dht/view?usp=sharing dcs.log-20251004-194741.zip 1
AdrianL Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago You got error "DX device removed. Reason: 0x887A0005". Which generally indicates a graphics card hardware or driver issue. See and https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/startup/#3312253 1

In addition to what AdrianL just said, there's a pretty awesome log file analyzer on ED's Discord that'll give some fairly specific feedback; you can find it here: https://discord.gg/PSGpNvBM3Z With your log file it reads: Quote Errors Hot plug Events Disable hot plug in your CONTROLS section. There is a GPU-related error (Re-)install the latest GPU drivers. Don't overclock your GPU or RAM. Your DCS has crashed The crash occurred inside GraphicsCore.dll. PLEASE REMOVE ANY CUSTOM MODS FIRST AND CHECK, IF THE ISSUE PERSISTS! If that does not help: Try a !repair. Delete Saved Games\DCS\fxo and metashaders2 and try again. Next, delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\TEMP\DCS and try again. Next, try renaming Saved Games\DCS to DCS.old and try again. And then it also gives the following advice: Quote Advice Please use the bin\DCS.exe instead of the bin-mt\DCS.exe. If you have stability or performance issues pointing to your GPU, rollback the GPU driver to version 566.36 Verify that this is configured correctly in Windows: Game Mode disabled Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling disabled And while mods shouldn't cause GFX crashes, it can not be overstated that you should really remove them before continuing; SRS should be fine, but just to be on the safe side, the Blackhawk and Herc mods should go until you can be sure they have nothing to do with these issues. 1
SrSosio Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago Hey. I left the message and went to sleep. I have used the log analyzer multiple times before. I just don't find any of its advices useful to me. I've done everything it says with no luck before. I do use msi afterburner to undervolt/underclock my gpu, which I learnt it does come oc'd by default (evga 3090 ftw3 ultra). I've also tried running the single core version (not sure why that is a recommendation). I think the gpu is likely the problem. I bought it used and the guy had re-padded it. Not sure if he did a good job with it. I gotta say everything else in the pc works perfectly fine, fusion 360, horizon forbidden west... Even DCS when I play it in a simple 1920x1080 23" inch lcd with keyboard and mouse or game controller. I'll try once again but with trackir instead of vr, and disabling hot plug. Regarding hot plug, if I disable it and want to add a device that was disconnected, I just need to rescan devices, right? Edit: I'd rather keep trying without uninstalling the herc and the blackhawk, as I play almost exclusively in Grayflag server and those are required. It's quite annoying having to uninstall and install them again. But I'll try it if nothing else works.

You should use the one in bin, it’s not single core. Both bin and bin-mt are multithreaded (they’re identical now) and bin-mt will be removed in the future, this is why the recommendation is there. 1 1 AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2

Yup, that's available from the "Adjust Controls" menu and works fine for me when a USB plug comes loose and DCS initially loses TrackIR. 4 hours ago, SrSosio said: gotta say everything else in the pc works perfectly fine, fusion 360, horizon forbidden west... Even DCS when I play it in a simple 1920x1080 23" inch lcd with keyboard and mouse or game controller. I once had an issue where DCS was the only game running okay; everything else crashed once every two hours if I got really lucky, and typically much more often. Maybe DCS makes a certain graphics call that triggers a fault in your card? Could be a ton of causes. 4 hours ago, SrSosio said: I'd rather keep trying without uninstalling the herc and the blackhawk Then I'll stop responding. Good luck anyway. In case you want to give it another try, you might want to look for a mod manager.
